We welcome Pastor Ian as our minister to help guide us as we enter the transition between our long-time pastor, Paul Mattson and a future seated pastor.
Reverend Dr. Ian Hewitson, better known to us as Pastor Ian, was born in Jos, Nigeria, where his parents were missionaries. He spent his formative years in the United Kingdom, living in England and Scotland.
Pastor Ian initially spent his post-secondary schooling at Northwestern Liberal Arts College in Roseville, Minnesota, where he obtained his AA and BA in Graphic Arts. He went on to receive a Master's Degree in Religion at Westminster Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania. Pastor Ian furthered his Master’s with Ph.D. work in Biblical Counseling and was awarded a Ph.D., Systematic Theology at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.
| | |
Pastor Ian has written books and given academic presentations at symposia and conferences.
His professional life has led him to be a teacher and minister, having been a professor at University of Northwestern St. Paul, a teacher at a Christian high school, and served as interim minister at several churches. Most recently, Pastor Ian has been providing pastoral care and Chaplain services for Senior Living communities, including Heartwood.

In the Children's Ministry...
VBS is in full swing this week!
A Summer reminder for children is worship-While there may not be Sunday School during the Summer, there IS a special time for children during the service to engage in a short lesson, called "Children's Time". We encourage children of all ages to come on up on Sundays when prompted during the service! There are also "Busy Bags" in the back of the sanctuary, available for children of all ages to use while in worship. These bags are filled with coloring items and small trinkets and toys. Donations for these bags are always welcome! Some ideas may be coloring books, Legos, fidget toys, etc.
We can't wait to see you all back for "Rally Day and Blessing of the Backpacks" in September!

In Youth Ministry...
In June, we were blessed to have a wonderful gathering at Peter and Jan Nordell's home! This is always a treasured time, filled with delicious food, s'mores, devotion, and of course...whiffle ball! Thank you Nordell's for your kindness and support!
Mark your calendars for our next youth gathering scheduled for Wednesday, July 23rd, 5:30 at the Jim and Paula Traylor residence on Serpent! Bring your family members too! We will enjoy more delicious food (What's a gathering without FOOD!) and fun on the lake-don't forget your swimsuit and towel.

Spirit of Christmas Bazaar
by Carol Pundt and Patty Kahnert
| | |
Thank you for being the Bazaar in years past! I know November 8th seems like a long way off. Do we really want to think about Fall when we are just getting over winter! You know time flies fast.
Our Immanuel Family puts on a great Bazaar starting with a Meal With A Mission that was held on July 13th. The monies from MWM help with necessary purchases for the set up of the Bazaar.
| | |
We need Bazaar raffle items. Over the past years there has been a variety of items from cement work, special dinners, wood craft items, fishing guide packages and quilts. We need four to five items for a successful raffle. Last year the raffle raised $1,707.00. Your creative talents and gifts are a blessing. I am hoping you have started your projects. November comes sooner than you think! Please listen to the tap on your shoulder.
All proceeds from the Spirit of Christmas Bazaar go to help out our local community. As we have learned in our BELIEVE Series, nothing can be done by one person. We all have gifts to be used for God's purposes.
| | |
The team captain's meeting scheduled for July 16th has been postponed until September. Watch newsletters and announcements for the new date.
If you have questions, please give us a phone call: Co-Chairs Carol Pundt 218-678-3256 and Patty Kahnert - 612-385-2927. We are thankful for our Immanuel Family's dedication to making the Spirit of Christmas Bazaar 2025 a success!
