The annual salad luncheon was held Saturday, June 6. It was a very enjoyable time with a lot of good food and fellowship.

Following the meal Jane Troge instructed people on how to create a floral arrangement. Everyone was encouraged to bring flowers to create their own arrangement. Jane explained steps to take to prepare the flowers, steps to creating an arrangement, and how to make the arrangement last.

Thank you to Jane for a great lesson!

Our event is in 55 days.  We need solicitors for silent auction items.  If you have an item to donate, please drop it off at the church office and fill out a value slip.

Our next meeting is Thursday, June 18^th.  We will be choosing businesses to solicit.  If you can join us for this meeting, we meet at the Bridge Tavern at 6pm.

A Meal With A Mission to raise monies for our Spirit of Christmas Bazaar will be served on August 2^nd.  Monies from this event will help with the necessary purchases to defray costs needed for coffee, apple cider, baking supplies, caramel/cinnamon rolls for sale at the Bazaar and advertising.    Please watch for sign up information on the back of the welcome slip at the end of June and beginning of July. Help will be needed for  preparation on Saturday, August 1^nd and serving the meal on Sunday August 2^rd.

The Team Leaders Kick off Meeting has been changed from July to September 16th at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall.  Summer is a busy time for all of us.  Also, the Manna For Malawi event needs everyone's help.  If you have not helped with the event in the past, please volunteer.

Marsha Larson has volunteered to be the TEAM CAPTAIN for the Bazaar Raffle!  Thank you Marsha!  Please let her know if you would like to be a CO-CAPTAIN.  Her phone number is 218-546-6065. It is a big job and help is always needed. Jeff Olson, Kim Gibson, Jack Schubert and an anonymous donor are donating raffle items.  Please let Marsha know if you would like to donate an item for the raffle.   Last year the raffle raised $1,645.00.  

ATTENTION ALL lefse chefs...In honor of Jean Olson, we would like to continue selling lefse at the Bazaar.  Please let us know if you would be willing to make lefse to sell at the Bazaar.  It can be made ahead of time, frozen at ILC and thawed for the Bazaar.  Or if a group of lefse chefs would like to use ILC's kitchen to gather in fellowship to make lefse, please tell Patty or me of your plans.

Sandy Davis will not be able to be a Team Captain for the wreath making project this year for the Bazaar.  Thank you Sandy (Denny also) for all your hard work last year!  Having wreaths for sale is a big part of the bazaar.  Please prayerfully consider being a Team Captain.  You will have lots of help!  If you have any questions regarding what being a Team Captain involves, please phone Sandy (218-838-9675).

The Buildings and Grounds Committee is always busy doing regular upkeep of the grounds and property.  The team takes turns mowing and trimming the church lawn weekly, and they are to be commended for going above and beyond in all the other ways they keep our buildings and grounds in good shape.  

Recently, they performed extensive preventive maintenance at the parsonage to protect the septic system from potential freezing. This past winter, the septic pipes froze during a lengthy cold snap, and at the time, it was determined the pipes were only about two feet below the ground surface and were inadequately insulated. So the maintenance crew rented a backhoe with a digger and, armed with shovels, they removed the dirt covering the septic pipe and laid 3" X 24" R15 hardboard insulation over the pipe.  

While they had it exposed, they sealed the 4" pipe connection to the septic tank with hydraulic cement to prevent any opportunity for hair-like tree roots to interfere.

After the excavation work, they climbed ladders, cleaned roof gutters, and fixed a loose hose spigot.

In the photos, Jack Schubert was operating the backhoe, while Joe McNally, Wade Burlet, Butch Burgstaler and Denny Henrichs used shovels and rakes. (Dan Wisniak is a regular building team member but wasn't available for the septic project.)

The June Meal With A Mission on May 31 benefited Cuyuna Lakes Lunch Bunch. the ministry that provides lunches for children during the summer.

The July Meal With A Mission will be on July 5 and will benefit Don and Judi Hendrickson, fire victims.

New council members were installed during the worship service on Sunday, June 7.
