School supplies for Belcher School should be brought to church on Sunday. They will be delivered to the school on Monday.
Supplies needed: backpacks (not filled), folders, lined paper, pencils, pencil boxes or pouches, Sharpies, crayons, erasers, rulers, glue sticks, notebooks, scissors, dry erase markers, colored pencils, tissue boxes for the classrooms.

Good Neighbors is in urgent need of strong, dependable volunteers to help receive, sort, and load food for our community. Even 1, 2, or 3 hours of your time can make a real difference in helping feed families, seniors, and children across Tampa Bay.

They are also in need of egg cartons that hold 6 or 12 eggs.
St. John's is in need of ushers. The job consisists of arriving at 8:30 on Sunday, greeting people as they arrive, asking visitors to sign the guest book, handing out bulletins. taking up the offering, and guiding people to the communion rail. Training is provided, along with serving alongside an experienced usher. Contact Ellen Seto
There is also a need for assistance 4th Sunday coffee hour - set up, clean up. There is also a need for "goodies" for coffee hour. Contact Bonnie Lovell.
We are looking for a person or several people - who would be willing to hold up the "Honk, if you love Jesus" sign on the sidewalk on Belcher Rd. prior to the service.

The Episcopal Zone
Yesterday, the Episcopal Church celebrated The Philadelphia Eleven, the first group of women ordained to the priesthood on July 29, 1974. Their courage, conviction, and persistence helped open the way for generations of women to serve as priests and bishops.
On July 29, 1974, eleven women were ordained as priests in The Episcopal Church at the Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia. The Episcopal Church had not yet officially authorized the ordination of women to the priesthood, so three retired bishops ordained the women in a service attended by nearly 2,000 people. The House of Bishops first declared their ordinations invalid, then changed the language to “irregular”.
The women continued to exercise their ministries, celebrate the Eucharist, teach, preach and advocate for change, even when some bishops instructed them not to do so. Then, in 1976, General Convention made history. Beginning January 1,1977, women could be ordained to the priesthood through the church’s regular canonical process.
Today, women serve throughout the Episcopal Church as priests, bishops, deacons and lay leaders. The Philadelphia Eleven didn’t simply ask for a place at the table. They helped to change the table.

Hurricane Preparedness
It is important to us that we know your plans in case of a hurricane. Are you in an evacuation zone? Many zones have changed this year, so be sure to check on yours.If you are in an evac zone, will you evacuate and where will you go? If you aren't, can you take in a parishioner or two?
We also need your emergency contact, preferably someone who is not local and won't be afftected by a hurricane. Please fill out the form and return it to church or email it to jandavis.stjohns@gmail.com.
