Sunday recognitions
On Sunday, we congratulated Logan Weaver on his graduation from East Lake High School and his acceptance to the University of Florida. He is joined in the picture by his parents, Suzann Weaver and Deb Hladky.
| | Also, on Sunday, we bid farewell for the summer to our Deacon, The Rev. Kevin Mort. Deacon Kevin spends the summer at his home in New Hampshire. We wish him and restful sumer and look forward to his return in the fall. The picture is of his final dismissal until October. "Let us bless the Lord!" | | |
The Rt. Rev. Douglas Scharf, Bishop of the DIocese of Southwest Florida, will be the celebrant and preacher at our service on September 13, at which time St. John's will celebrate it's 60th birthday. The Bishop visits each parish every two years. This is a wonderful opportunity for Confirmation, Reception or Reaffirmation.
The Rev. Matthew Grunfeld who teaches at the Diocesan School of Ministry, has offered to hold an online (Zoom) class for all interested. It will probably be a 1 hour evening class held on Tuesday or Wednesday evening beginning the week after July 4 and lasting 8 weeks.
Please let Jan or Marlene know as soon as possible if you would like to be Confirmed, Reaffirmed, or Received from another denomination that celebrates Confirmation by a Bishop. You could also attend if you would just like a refresher.

Training is provided, along with serving alongside an experienced usher. Contact Ellen Seto
There is also a need for assistance with 4th Sunday coffee hour - set up, clean up and providing goodies to share. Contact Bonnie Lovell.
We are looking for a person or several people - who would be willing to hold up the "Honk, if you love Jesus" sign on the sidewalk on Belcher Rd. prior to the service.

It is important to us that we know your plans in case of a huricane. Are you in an evacuation zone? Many zones have changed this year, so be sure to check on yours. If you are in an evac zone, will you evacuate and where will you go? If you aren't, can you take in a parishioner or two?
We also need your emergency contact, preferably someone who is not local and won't be afftected by a hurricane. Please fill out the form and return it to church or email it to jandavis.stjohns@gmail.com.
