Lent begins

You can receive thought-provoking meditations each day during Lent that reflect on the blessings that we share with all of creation, and what our ordinary everyday lives can teach us about the love of God. You will receive a Lenten Meditation in your inbox each day (except Sundays) until Easter.

Irish Dinner with Music and Trivia

Saturday, March 15, 4 p.m. in the Parish Hall

Join us on March 15 for the first of our country and ethnic themed dinners. This is a potluck. Bring your favorite Irish dish, or find a recipe that fits the theme. The Hall will be decorated for St. Patrick's Day. A trivia contest will be held on the history, customs, entertainment, etc., of Ireland and the Irish people, and Irish music will entertain us.

Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving him to carry the burden alone.

SEASON FOUR IS HERE! COME AND SEE!

We have gathered to watch and discuss Seasons One through Three of The Chosen. It is time for us to gather again for Season Four. Share in the visual story-telling and discussion of what is the next step in the story of Jesus and his disciples. It is also the story of us…

Not familiar with The Chosen? The Chosen is a drama series about the life of Jesus and His followers. (Click here for an explanation of what has happened in Seasons One through Three.)  In Season Four, they will face betrayal, violence, and a rising up against their enemies in the Roman Empire. We will meet on Thursdays at 6:30 pm. As before, popcorn and drinks will be provided. There will be a discussion afterwards. You will want to talk about it!  Don’t forget to sign up!

Prayers for our Country

The following prayers can be found in The Book of Common Prayer, pages 823-824. St. John's is including these prayers in the Prayers of the People on Sundays. Let us commit to pray daily for our country.

For Social Justice

Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart [and especially the hearts of the people of this land], that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In Times of Conflict

O God, you have bound us together in a common life. Help us, in the midst of our struggles for justice and truth, to confront one another without hatred or bitterness, and to work together with mutual forbearance and respect; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
