Walk in Love

WOW! What a Season of Stewardship we have had for 2024! When they chose Walk in Love as our theme this year St. John’s certainly met that challenge. We certainly displayed Time, Talent and Treasure.

A comforting hand when we have lost a loved one.

We stepped up during the Hurricane Season with 1 Tropical Storm Debby and 2 Hurricanes Helene and Milton. When storms caused damage to our campus we were there working together to try and clear the property and assess the damage and get repairs on the way. And when insurance wouldn’t pay for the repairs, parishioners stepped up and said, “Here I am”, and provided the funds needed. We worked to help others who had lost their homes and personal belongings.

The Thrift Store was closed due to damages, but he had a great Yard Sale the 2nd of November that kept all our volunteers hoping. Everything that I have witnessed during this time has shown me that God is here, and He is still watching over us, taking care of us and showing us His love and mercy.

Years ago, as a single parent raising my 2 children alone, I certainly resonated with the widow who searched her whole house and donated her last 2 copper coins to the church. It was then that I learned that not only does our money help fund the church, but our time and talent go a long way as well. Maybe you like to do yard work or gardening. Maybe you find peace in cleaning or cooking. Maybe you love to teach. These and many other talents are needed to keep our church whole and well. These are also the things that will help our church to grow and be here for future generations.

I want to take this time to thank everyone for your Time, Talents and Treasures that keep St. John’s God’s house that is open to everyone.

Help needed

The Altar Guild is in need of a person or two who would be willing to launder the altar linens weekly. It's not a big job, but it does involve washing and ironing as well as sometimes removing stains. Instructions will be given. For more information, contact Jan Davis or Carla Wilson.

St. John's Thrift Shop reopens!

The Thrift Shop reopening on Saturday was a rousing success. Shoppers loved the expanded inventory - and, of course, the prices that can't be beat. They lined up at check out and kept our volunteers hopping.

The Shop is always looking for volunteers. If you would like to help, contact Caroline Barnett. A new donation shed has been installed in front of the parish hall.
