Feeding Families for Thanksgiving

St. John's will be providing Thanksgiving bags for 30 needy families of children from Belcher Elementary School. We would like to have 30 people to fill a bag with listed items. (You can take one or more bags.) Caroline Barnett will have the bags on Sunday, along with a list of food items. A $25 Walmart gift card provided by St. John's will be added to each bag so that the family can purchase a turkey. Completed bags should be returned to St. John's no later than Sunday, Nov. 17 to be delivered to the school the following day.

Items requested for the bags: 2 cans green beans, 2 cans corn, 2 cans yams, 1 can cranberry sauce, 1 can/jar turkey gravy, 1 lg box turkey stuffing, 1 lg box instant mashed potatoes, 1 box biscuit or roll mix, 1 brownie mix.

Pack-a-Sack is a program that provides food for weekends for children who have been identified by school counselors as food insecure. St. John's is currently providing weekend food packs for 40 children at Belcher Elementary. The pack contains enough food for a child for the weekend - cereal, shelf stable milk, juice, fruit boxes, cereal bars, mac & cheese, ramen noodles, etc. If you would like to sponsor a child for one month- $25, or for one year $225, please mark your gift for Pack a Sack. For more information or to assist with the packing, contact Caroline Barnett.

National Walk to School Day - Wednesday, October 9

Join the parents and children of Belcher Elementary as they walk from St. John's parking lot to their school. Gather in our parking lot at 7:45. Largo Police and Fire Department. will accompany the walkers with police cars and fire trucks.

On behalf of the Ladies of the Persevere Now Class at Lowell Correctional Facility, I would like to thank everyone who donated hygiene products for their graduation gifts. Most of these women are indigent and cannot afford the items that you purchased for them. You have truly blessed them.

Again, thank you and God Bless. Carol J.
