Spring 2024 grant recipients

We are so proud to introduce you to our latest round of THF grant recipients! We happily funded 53 grant requests this spring and will spend the next few months telling you all about their plans to help improve the lives of the special needs population via our website and social media channels.

We'll share stories from our recent grant recipients in the coming weeks. Make sure you check our blog often to read the latest. For example, our new friends at The Arc of Farmington Valley in Canton, Connecticut (pictured here) will use grant funds to purchase laptops for their work transition program for adolescents with intellectual disabilities.

Read all about this amazing story and more by checking out our news page often.

It's that time again! We are now accepting applications from educators and care givers who support the special needs community.

Our past grant recipients have done some amazing things with funds from THF grants. Some examples include:

  • classroom/student-run businesses (coffee carts, school stores, etc.)
  • sensory rooms/sensory toys
  • accessible gardens
  • unified sports days
  • adaptive playground equipment
  • adaptive communicative tools
  • adaptive educational programs

Applicants must be affiliated with a not-for-profit 501c3 approved organization. The deadline to apply is August 1.

THF SPOTLIGHT

Update: Pride Pals

In March 2023, we had the pleasure of delivering a grant to Bethany Scroggs, a teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Morton, Illinois. She had big plans to start a classroom business in order to teach her students math and communications skills, as well as how to work together as a team. Missed it? Read all about it here.

In October 2023, Pride Pals was born. Read about it's opening day here. Throughout the school year, Lincoln students visited the school store, where they could find items like pencils, sunglasses and keychains. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of students and their leaders, school social worker Molly Winkler and occupational therapy assistant Amanda Bunting, Pride Pals finished its inaugural year with a profit of $1,218!

Learn more about Pride Pals in this video, where we hear from a few of our Pride Pals, including Brooklyn, who may have a career in either sales or movies in her future.
