Venice MainStreet's volunteers kick off the season
Venice MainStreet's Downtown Ambassadors, also known as the "Downtowners," had their Volunteer Strut this week. They visited downtown businesses to let them know the Downtowners are back for the season to staff the information kiosk in Centennial Park and to walk the historic district’s avenues greeting visitors, giving out brochures, and answering questions.
The information kiosk opens on Monday, November 14th, 11am-2pm. To learn about how you can volunteer with Venice MainStreet, please visit www.visitvenicefl.org/volunteer.

Weekly Saturday Carillon Recitals Resume
November 12 at 10am
Weekly Saturday recitals are resuming this Saturday, November 12 at 10am at the Venice Performing Arts Center terrace. Bring your lawn chairs, or listen from the comfort of your cars. Free and open to the public.
Beyond the Saturday morning recitals, there will also be several holiday events, starting with a performance by Dutch carillonneur Wim Ruitenbeek on Thursday, December 15 at 4pm and the return of "Caroling with the Carillon" on Thursday, December 22 at 7pm.

Our next meeting will be held at Plantation Golf & Country Club, 500 Rockley Blvd., Venice beginning with networking at 5:15 pm, a speaker and Business Meeting on November 15th. The speaker will be Carol Byrum, ARNP, Wellness & Weight Management Consultant who sees patients in their homes and by Zoom to focus on lifestyle changes through nutrition, weight loss and supplementation. The business meeting will include discussion on rescheduled Wine Tasting fundraiser on Friday, January 20th, Senior Holiday gift exchange on December 15th and Women Helping Women and their families for the holidays. The public is welcome to join us for dinner and hear Ms. Byrum’s presentation. Reservations are required and can be made at BPWEV.org.
The Business and Professional Women of Englewood and Venice met for their monthly meeting on October 18th at Hotel Venezia, 425 Venice Bypass, South. President Esther Bird reminded us about National Business Women’s Week and shared little know facts on women inventors and company owners. Members provided information on an influential woman in support of working women and their families. The speaker was Kelly Batista, Executive Director of the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute for Sarasota Memorial Health Care System in Sarasota. SMH is the largest employer in Sarasota County with over 8,000 employees. Kelly gave a very detailed presentation of cancer services provided.
Cynthia Fredericks was voted Woman of the Year by the membership and received a certificate and orchid by President Esther Bird.

City of Venice Holiday Parade
November 26
Continuing an over 40-year-old tradition, the City of Venice Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, is the perfect "kickoff" to the holiday season in Venice, Florida.
Thousands of enthusiastic and creative participants representing over 100 local companies, schools, churches, social organizations and music groups join together to make this community family event fun for all ages.
Tens of thousands of spectators line the parade route early to find and secure their perfect spot to enjoy the festivities.
Bring your appetite! Drinks and goodies are offered for sale by high school booster clubs, Scouts and local nonprofit service groups all along the parade route.
Pre-parade entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. at Harbor Drive and Venice Avenue and at Nokomis and Venice avenues. Music begins to fill the air, the lighting of the downtown holiday decorations begin to sparkle with the sunset and the fun is just beginning .
Family friends and out-of-town guests will all enjoy this community centered holiday experience that you will never forget and keep you returning for years to come!
Parade Info
The Venice Holiday Parade returns to downtown Venice on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 26.
The parade officially begins at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Park Blvd. and W. Venice Ave (south side). It will proceed on the north side of W. Venice Ave. after crossing over Harbor Drive. From there, it will make a turn on Nokomis Avenue and go all the way down to Turin Street, where it turns right, ultimately making its way to the Venice Community Center, where the parade ends.

The Venice Area Pregnancy Care Center will be holding their annual Christmas Cottage November 28th through Dec 23rd. In addition to the regular items available, clients of the Center will be able to choose a new or gently used toy for each of their registered children. There will also be limited availability of Holiday themed clothing and items for parents to choose from.
The Center is located at 301 Bayshore Drive in downtown Venice and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am -1pm.
Clients are asked to remember to bring their photo ID with them.
