West Venice Ave. at Park Blvd.

closure started this week

A contractor began work on a stormwater project Monday, Aug. 7 that will close one lane of eastbound W. Venice Ave. at Park Blvd. for approximately two weeks. Eastbound traffic on W. Venice Ave. will still be able to get through; however, travel on Park Blvd. through the intersection will be detoured. Please follow the posted signage. Please see map showing project location in red.

This work will replace aging stormwater infrastructure. Your patience is appreciated as this project is completed.

Lord-Higel House accessory building and handicap ramp/railings are finished

Constructed in 1896 by entrepreneur Joseph Lord, the Lord-Higel House is the second oldest house in Sarasota County. Acquired by the City of Venice in 2005, Venice Heritage volunteers have invested thousands of hours restoring the house to its original glory. It is located at 409 Granada Avenue.

Boating Skills and Seamanship Course

Mondays and Thursdays in September

6pm-9pm

Each month, the Venice Coast Guard Auxiliary offers Boating Skills and Seamanship classes to the community. These are 5 classes meeting Monday and Thursday evenings, 6-9pm. All attendants will receive a Coast Guard Certificate and a Florida Boater's Card from the State of Florida.

The September classes are on 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st, 25th.

🏆 Tournament Format:

The format for play will be a poker hand scramble. All participants will receive goodie bags, and an awards luncheon will follow the play. Exciting prizes await the three teams with the best poker hand, longest drive, closest to the pin, and there's even a $10,000.00 hole-in-one challenge. During registration, you'll have the opportunity to purchase mulligans and 50-50 raffle tickets.
