Empowering Youth to Achieve Their Full Potential
|
|
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties has been a leader in youth development since 1970, providing enriching after-school and summer programs to thousands of youth, ages 6 to 18, in Sarasota, Venice, North Port and Arcadia.
With six Club locations throughout Sarasota and Desoto Counties, our Robert and Joan Lee Club has been serving Venice and the surrounding area since 2007. This 21st-century facility has designated program areas for academics, culinary arts, art, technology, physical fitness, life skills development and more. Children receive a snack after school each day.

Venice Police Department hosts
Drive-thru Prescription Drug Takeback
event from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, April 24
For citizens to responsibly dispose of
unwanted or expired prescription
medications from the safety of their vehicles.
Officers will be on hand to assist.
VPD has partnered with Drug Free Sarasota, Florida Department of Health-Sarasota County, Poison Information Center and First Step of Sarasota, along with the Florida National Guard, to organize this event as a drive-thru for residents’ convenience and safety. The event will be located at the Public Safety Facility at 1575 E. Venice Ave. Only tablets and capsules will be accepted.
This ongoing program allows the public to return unused prescription medications into a controlled collection system. In doing so, the medications are destroyed without being deposited into our landfills or water system, substantially reducing any potential environmental damage and the chance of the meds becoming a health hazard. Safe disposal of these medications also decreases access to addictive drugs for accidental or intentional misuse.
For more information, please call the
Police Department at 941-486-2444.
