Reopening Update
According to STATE OF FLORIDA OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 20-112 (Phase 1: Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan for Florida's Recovery) , "senior citizens and individuals with a significant underlying medical condition are strongly encouraged to stay at home and take all measures to limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19." 

Barbershops, Cosmetology Salons, and Cosmetology Specialty Salons

Effective May 11, 2020

Authorized to proceed to Phase 1: Barbershops, cosmetology salons, and cosmetology specialty salons that adopt appropriate social distancing and precautionary measures as outlined by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Effective May 11, 2020, the following restrictions are mandatory for barbershops,cosmetology salons, and cosmetology specialty salons:

  • All customers will be by appointment only.

  • Allow at least 15 minutes between the conclusion of an appointment and the beginning of the next appointment for proper disinfecting practices.

  • No group appointments are permitted.

  • Masks must be worn by all employees while performing personal services.

Barbershops, cosmetology salons, and cosmetology specialty salons are encouraged to adhere to the following guidance:
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect prior to reopening. Make sure to disinfect all surfaces,tools and linens, even if they were cleaned before you originally closed. This type of cleaning should continue between each day of operation.
  • Consider providing unworn masks to clients for use during their appointment.
  • Remove all unnecessary, frequently touched items like magazines, newspapers, service menus and any other unnecessary paper products and décor from customer service areas.

Dog Parks, Pier and Jetty Update
In partnership with Sarasota County, which has reopened all dog parks in the County, the Brohard Paw Park in the City of Venice reopened to dogs and their owners effective Monday, May 11 . This reopening includes the fenced-in play area and the dog beach. A reminder to please pick up after your pet. Waste bags are provided at the Paw Park.

Humphris Park and the South Jetty point, Jetty Jack’s concessions at the South Jetty, and the Venice Fishing Pier reopened to the public effective May 11.

Visitors must adhere to social distancing guidelines and posted rules at all these locations. Please maintain a 6-foot distance from others and limit groups to 10 or fewer. These locations will be patrolled by law enforcement. Your cooperation is appreciated.

This upcoming Memorial Day, since we can't gather for ceremonies, please hang a flag in your storefront if you can. We can still honor those who sacrificed their lives in service of our country.

Food Drives & Distributions
May 30th, 8am to 10am
at Venice Christian School
1200 Center Rd.

One Christ Won City, a local 501(c)(3), will be operating a one-day food drive program called Feed Venice. 

Citizens are asked to bring donations of peanut butter, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned soup, and cereal to Venice Christian School, 1200 Center Rd., on May 30 between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. 
There will be a convenient drive-thru food drop. You will not need to exit your vehicle. Volunteers will take and sort your generous donations.

All items collected will stay in Venice and help feed local children and families.
