BTH: Pandemic was "Finest Hour" of Academic Medicine, says New Head of UTHSC.

While the COVID-19 pandemic is undoubtedly devastating and vast in impact, it also yielded "academic medicine's finest hour," says Dr. Peter Buckley, the new Chancellor of UT Health Science Center (UTHSC).


Dr. Buckley says that the science community was able to shift their means of operations, work more closely together, and in some areas, find quicker ways of doing things.

This Saturday, live from the Metropolitan Opera, join us for the network broadcast premiere of Hamlet, the striking new opera by Brett Dean with a libretto by Matthew Jocelyn based on Shakespeare’s towering tragedy.


Tenor Allan Clayton sings the tour-de-force title role of the prince of Denmark, tormented by his father’s murder and his mother’s hasty re-marriage. He’s joined by soprano Brenda Rae as Ophelia, mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly as Gertrude, baritone Rod Gilfry as Claudius, and bass-baritone John Relyea as the ghost. 


Nicholas Carter conducts the Met Orchestra and Chorus in the opera’s audacious and riveting score.
