As we begin 2019, I want to share some exciting news with you about WES, which proudly serves more than 165,000 customers in northern Clackamas County.
2019 will mark the first full year of construction at our
Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility in Oregon City, as we increase capacity to ensure our wastewater treatment services will accommodate the continued growth in our service area.
WES has begun upgrades at our
Kellogg Water Resource Recovery Facility in Milwaukie as well. The upgrades will strengthen WES’ ability to provide reliable and affordable wastewater treatment services to protect your family’s health, our shared environment, and future economic growth in the county. We also took measures to increase odor control in 2018.
I have big news regarding the WES Surface Water Program! The New Year will see the completion of the
Carli Creek Project, which will greatly improve the quality of the stormwater runoff that reaches the creek, before entering the Clackamas River. The river is a vital source of drinking water for more than 300,000 people.
Last but certainly not least, being recognized as a ‘
Utility of the Future Today’ in 2018 was a tremendous honor for WES! It serves as a reminder of the great responsibility we have to always be prepared to meet your wastewater treatment and surface water needs.
