Week 6 was a busy week! I had a hearing and press conference for my most contested bill yet, HB42 to shorten the response time for Maryland Public Information Act requests.  Maryland has the highest response time in the US  for PIA requests. It is no surprise that the press and parents of children with special needs are supporting the bill, and that most state agencies are in opposition.   I am proud to work with colleagues to make government more responsive and transparent.
Wednesday was Developmental Disabilities day in Annapolis. I am honored to work with and support this community of amazing people and advocates. I am also proud that they chose two of my bills (HB140 and HB142) to highlight as their legislative priorities this session.
Want to learn more about what I am working on this session? Click on the following link to listen to my Comcast Newsmakers segment: Guyton Newsmakers  The first bill that I am talking about is HB847 which would establish a state wide Autism Coordinator (I mistakenly referred to it as HB33 which is the second bill that I speak about).  Hearings for this bill are next Wednesday.  Please let my office know if you would like to come testify (410) 841-3793.
