Since its inception in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nevada Cultural Competency (NVCC) has worked to develop, provide, and maintain comprehensive training to medical practitioners, public health professionals, and CBOs in a variety of formats in order to foster cultural humility and inclusivity and strengthen equitable, accessible, quality care delivery for Nevada's patient populations.


Regardless of the training format, our curriculum is interactive, comprehensive, and taught by knowledgeable professionals working in the realm of cultural humility.

Nevada Cultural Competency offers a state-approved cultural competency course!



To satisfy Nevada regulations NRS 449, AB 267, & AB 327, Nevada Cultural Competency (NVCC) has developed an updated and condensed version of the Self-Paced Nevada Cultural Competency Training.



This comprehensive training is designed to foster humility and proactive quality care for patients in Nevada.

NVCC Training Formats & Services

Our trainings are tailored to meet participants and the populations they serve where they're at, where they're comfortable, and through state approved best practices in a variety of different occupational fields.

Self-Paced Nevada Cultural Competency Training


This is an asynchronous, self-driven training. After registering, you unlock access for 90 days and can complete it at any point during this time on any device. Complete this training on your schedule!

Train - the - Trainer


Facilities can license our copyrighted materials annually and receive direct support from our staff so that requirements can be completed and maintained within their own organization. Providing flexibility to match their own schedule. We recommend this option for facilities with 60+ employees.

 

Since our inception, NVCC Training has reached:


  • 30+ Educational Institutions spanning over 30 states
  • 24 States Reached
  • 900+ Training Participants, of which over 25% have received CE or CME credit

Program & Event Updates

The Rural Health Network Development Program seeks to provide a continuum, of coordinated health services, from prevention through treatment, using a health and wellness hub model to support primary and integrated care to decrease the rate of metabolic syndrome and its related drivers (hypertension, high blood sugar, obesity, and cholesterol) among individuals receiving services. This network program is working to become an integral piece of the Rural Nevada Health Network as strategies for health and wellness in Lyon & Storey counties continue to evolve. Train-the-Trainer


Nevada Cultural Competency offers a subscription to our Train-the-Trainer program. Through this program facilities can license our Nevada Cultural Competency copyrighted materials annually. Providing flexibility to match their own schedule. Facilities receive direct support from our staff so that requirements can be completed and maintained within their own organization. Providing flexibility to match their own schedule.

Facilities with an existing membership can renew their membership for a discounted price!

Disability Pride Month: Wed, July 1st- Fri, July 31st


Disability Pride Month celebrates community, disability identity, and recognizes disability culture and leadership. This observance pushes for disability inclusion disability-led advocacy. The theme for 2026 is "The World Works Better With Us".


Disability Pride Month also celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).


International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples: Sun, August 9th


Adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 1994, this day serves to raise awareness about Indigenous populations. It emphasizes the significance of their identities, traditions, and territories, while also acknowledging the vital role Indigenous communities play in society.


Women's Equality Day: Wed, August 26th


Women’s Equality Day honors the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920, which granted women the right to vote.


As we mark the 106th anniversary of this significant amendment, this day serves to emphasize the continuous efforts toward achieving full gender equality.

 

Hispanic Heritage Month: September 15th- October 15th


This month-long celebration honors Hispanic and Latino history and culture. It recognizes the significant contributions made to history, culture, advocacy, vibrant art, and much more!


It serves as an exploration of the incredible impact these communities have made in the United States.

 

Honoring all Cultural Observations,

Commemorations, Holidays, Ritual Practices, and Traditions.


While the holidays mentioned above are widely celebrated, it is important to keep in mind that many people observe other holidays during this time and throughout the year.


Creating an inclusive work environment means respecting and acknowledging the diverse ways individuals celebrate. By being considerate of different holidays and cultural practices, we can cultivate a respectful and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
