LOTTIE TOUR 2021 REPORT
2021 marked Lottie’s 6th year on tour. With Covid-19 continuing to impact the normal ways of working in the UK and globally, we faced a second year of challenges with regards to recruiting volunteers. However, this time around, we were more aware of the challenges to expect and were able to set realistic expectations. Whilst many potential volunteers had not fully returned to their workplaces, the Covid lockdowns easing in summer 2021 meant that some volunteers were able to take Lottie to work, labs and site visits.
This year for the first time ever, WES enlisted the help of a marketing organization -Genius, to help us promote the tour and expand our reach. Genius helped us to
update our website and to reach schools and other organisations, and we look forward to
continuing to work with them this coming year.

NEW SALESFORCE CRM DATABASE - TO LAUNCH IN JANUARY 2022
As part of the WES Strategy we have been working on a replacement for the membership database that has been in use for a number of years. We are delighted to be able to announce that this new system is going live in January 2022.
The new Salesforce CRM system is a vital part of our work to transform the customer service experience of membership and allow us to focus on improving the membership offering. It will allow us to closely track our interactions with you so that we can quickly help when you get in touch and give us better data to make sure you are getting the support and benefits you need.
As part of this change we will be moving membership payments by card from Sage Pay to Stripe. Those who renew their membership by card will be offered the opportunity to pay by Direct Debit, or make a one-off card payment or an annual recurring card payment. Those who pay by Direct Debit will have their membership payment taken as usual. You will be sent a login for a new members area where you can manage your WES membership.
In the meantime if you have any queries please email the membership manager Tristan Holland

MEET KATHRYN - NEWEST WES PARTNERSHIP MANAGER
I am the new WES Partnerships Manager for the North of England, with some scope outside of this area to support Partners across the UK.
I am passionate about people and empowering women to believe in themselves to follow their dreams. I have an inner fight for justice and believe all people should be treated equally and well, especially Women. I have previously worked for not-for profit organisations and a career in the Events Industry, with a focus on account management and business development. I am driven to ensure our Partners are making an impact by partnering with WES and together we can make a difference to Women in Engineering.
In my personal life I have invested in a wetsuit to take up wild swimming this year, it may be more of a plunge than a swim, but time will tell. I also have a dog called Charlie who is a Jackawawa and we love cuddles on the sofa or out getting muddy, although he is small, he is mighty.

OTHER WES NEWS - LETS TALK GEEP
On 13th January, ECB members Imisi Joseph and Kim Everitt supported the Graduate Engineering Engagement Programme (GEEP) run by the Royal Academy of Engineering in partnership with Windsor Fellowship. The GEEP aims to increase the transition of engineering graduates from diverse backgrounds into engineering employment. Over the last six years, more than 1000 students from over 66 universities have taken part in the programme. Of the students involved in GEEP, 30% are female and over 90% are from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
With WES as one of the partners of GEEP, Imisi and Kim represented WES through the GEEP Skills & Competency virtual workshop, highlighting the many activities and benefits of becoming a member of WES to over 40 students, as well as sharing their engineering careers journey with top tips.
"It was great to share the work and activities WES does and how we can support students, as well as provide the students some advice." says Imisi. "We ended up running overtime on the many great questions from some of the female students! Was great to see them inspired from our engineering careers"
