Traditional Healing Services Return to NHBP

Beatrice Jackson will visit NHBP Health Facilities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a monthly basis. September’s sessions focus on Tobacco and natural Medicines. Jackson will offer individual healing sessions in the mornings and a group teaching in the afternoons.

Honor Orange Shirt Day

Thursday, Sept. 30

There were more than 350 government-funded Indian Boarding schools across the U.S. in the 19th and 20th centuries. Indian children were forcibly abducted and removed by government agents, sent to schools hundreds of miles away, and beaten, starved, or otherwise abused when they spoke their Native languages, Danced, or prayed.

Today, we lift our prayers to all the Indigenous families who were impacted by this hatred. We pray for healing, peace and comfort to all. Continue to spread hope and healing and wear Orange on Sept. 30!

Annual Fishing Picnic
 
Saturday, Oct. 2

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on M-60 property. Open to NHBP Tribal Members of all ages. Food will be provided. RVSP is required by Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. at: https://bit.ly/3seZ0uG.

Camp participants will learn master casting and fishing basics and techniques such as knot-tying, setting up a pole, casting, selecting and using bait, and removing fish from the hook. We will also be demonstrating and assisting with filet instructions to clean and prepare the fish. Youth will also learn about water safety.

A rod and reel are available if one does not have their own. Transportation is also available.
 
Directions from The Reservation: Take S Dr. S to M-66 South to M-60. Head west on M-60 approximately 2/3 of a mile. Look for the old gas station, and the new gravel driveway will be west of that on the south side of the road. Look for the signs.

NHBP Moves to
COVID-19: Phase 4

Due to the continued rise in COVID-19 cases, NHBP has moved into Phase 4, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7. 

Phase 4 includes all restrictions from Phase 3 and:
  • Pauses all one-on-one non-Health and Human Services meetings/appointments
  • Only critical need transportation services are available. These will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Only essential workers will be on NHBP worksites.

NHBP Health and Human Services is offering a booster dose of the Moderna vaccine for fully vaccinated individuals 18 years of age and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised. (See Members Only website for full list of qualifying conditions.)

Please discuss with your primary care provider, and if you are recommended for the booster dose, contact the NHBP Vaccine Hotline at 269.704.8504 to schedule your booster. 

As the eligibility for the booster dose expands in the days and weeks ahead, HHS will announce upcoming vaccine clinics.
