Not for School, But for Life We Learn. -Seneca

Good afternoon Falcon Families and Community,

We had a great week at PMHS last week. We are very impressed with all of our students rising to the expectations that have been set before them. Overall, we are seeing the vast majority of students engaged in and taking ownership of their learning. Students have generally arrived to school on time and we are seeing very few late to class. Please remind your child that cell phones are not to be used during class time unless directed by the teacher for an academic activity.

On August 24th, our School Advisory Committee met and discussed our goals for the 2023- 2024 school year. These goals are in draft until approved by the school board, however we do want to share that the goals focus on academic proficiency in reading and mathematics, academic gains in reading and mathematics, teacher collaboration and improving attendance. SAC is led by Ms. Willis. If you have any questions regarding SAC, please email her at erica.willis@stjohns.k12.fl.us.

The Menendez teams at this school enjoyed a number of successes including wins for volleyball, bowling, football and a great showing at the cross country meet this weekend. As the old saying goes, success begets success. We are committed to ALL of our students finding their individual success, whether it be in academically, socailly, athletically, artistically or in any other matter.

Please see the flyer below regarding digital IDs. These will be utilized this year for students in the media center, cafeteria, checking in and out and other school events. If your child does not have a cell phone, we do have alternative options. IN addition, all students must complete the form below to access the SJCSD network and acknowledge access to the SJCSD student code of conduct.

A multitude of our clubs are recruiting or have begun to meet. Information regarding clubs is posted throughout the campus. Best Buddies spent the past two weeks recruiting members. Other clubs like HOSA have already had their first meeting. Please encourage your child to get involved in something of interest. Information on clubs are posted around campus and near the bottom of the Menendez Message.

Visitors to campus MUST complete a School Access Form which can be found on the SJCSD website at https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/volunteer/.

  • This clearance is for entry on campus during school hours such as a morning meeting with teachers or counselors, volunteering, or other events.

As the year progresses, the message will fill with information for our students, parents and our community. Please make sure to subscribe to The Menendez Message at the link below.

We look forward to unlocking the potential of each student and Menendez High School this coming school year. RISE UP FALCONS!

Respectfully,

Ted Banton
