Good afternoon Falcon Nation,
It is hard to believe that we are close to the mid-point of the second quarter already. So many of our students have risen to the occasion. We are seeing grades improve as well as behavior and attendance. We want EVERY student at Pedro Menendez High School to achieve success. This will happen if all of us partner for the betterment of the community. We are incredibly thankful for the partnerships we have had thus far this year and look forward to growing an even stronger community.
We are also in a transition season as we speak. Many of our fall sports are concluding or traveling on to regionals and our winter sports are starting up. We are also in the winter season for Theatre, Band and other events. We are excited for the performance of Hedda Gabler by Ibsen this week. They have working incredibly hard in rehearsal and we can't wait to see the show.
PMHS administration charged the faculty, staff and student body with "Practicing Significance" this year; increasing the value and worth of each person .We are very proud of the service that our students are practicing towards our community as well. The FBLA is hosting a shoe drive right now, details are below. Furthermore, NHS is sponsoring this year's Toys for Tots. This information is below as well.
It is important to note that November 9 will be our Veterans Day observance at PMHS. We are truly thankful and humbled by the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served to protect our rights and freedoms in this country. Please remember that there is no school on November 10th in observance of Veterans Day and we encourage our students to take the opportunity to attend one of the many observances around St. Johns County https://www.visitstaugustine.com/event/veterans-day-events
This week marks Holocaust Education Week (Nov. 6-9) and Victims of Communism Day (Nov. 7). There will be daily announcements in memoriam and there will be Holocaust instruction taking place in our World History classes.
We hope to see continued improvement in the second quarter regarding attendance, especially as school starts and from 6th to 7th period.. Attendance is critical for learning and we want every student to be successful. Please remind your child, if they drive to school, make sure to arrive on time.
Senior parents, please make sure to look through the entire newsletter as there is important information for the coming weeks. As of now, Senior Dues are open for payment. Please see the flyer below.
