Good evening Menendez Community

This week we welcomed back our full faculty and staff back to our campus. It is great to see all of our teachers and staff. There is an energy around campus for certain. There are also a number of new faces and we will be sharing them through the newsletter over the coming weeks.

We also had the opportunity to welcome a number of incoming freshmen to campus through a great event hosted by our LINK Crew. LINK Crew is made up of a number of our upperclassmen and serves to connect underclassmen to students who have the Menendez knowledge. A big thanks goes to Ms. Bonner who organizes our LINK Crew.

We also had a parent showing of our band. They recently completed band camp under the new guidance of Mr. Scaccia. He comes to us with a vast array of high school band experiences. Look for pictures on our instagram with pictures from the parent concert.

Many of our fall athletics programs have begun. We are very excited to see the progress of our football, volleyball and other programs in the fall. We will be posting schedules on the PMHS website as they are finalized.

Please note that there will be a number of SchoolMessenger emails and texts as we get closer to the beginning of the school year. We want to ensure that we are communicating opportunities, events and expectations as the school year begins.

2023 National Drawings

Congratulations to Noah Daugherty! Over the summer Noah participated in the Skills USA Competition in Atlanta GA. And placed 10^th in the nation! This competition was only for state winners and Noah represented Pedro and the State of Florida at this competition and competed in Technical Drafting against the winners in 44 states. This is the only the 3^rd year that we have competed in technical drafting. Noah graduated in June and is now attending the University of North Florida and is studying engineering. His drawings are attached.

The PMHS Clinic is managed by Mrs. R. M. Parrey, RN, CSN, MEd. Information on Clinic services, including medication drop off can be found at https://www-pmhs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/clinic/

The Menendez Athletic Department utilizes an online paperless registration system, AthleticClearance.com. The registration process is attached. Additional Menendez Athletics information, including coaches’ contact information, can be found at www-pmhs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/athletics/. Our expectation is that every athlete will be registered by their parent/guardian before their desired sport’s start date.

 Athletic Clearance Instructions

Please ensure the following when completing the online process:

1.     Student ID should be entered WITHOUT a preceding “S”. Numeric ID only!

2.     Scan and upload physical as ONE document.

3.     Ensure that student information is complete on page 4 of the physical (EL2).

4.     Ensure that the MD has checked “Medically eligible for all sports without restriction” AND signed and dated page 4 of the physical.

5.     Ensure that student and parent signature/date is completed on bottom of page 4 of the physical.

The only type of physical we accept is the FHSAA EL2 physical form. The updated physical form is 4 pages. Starting the 23-24 school year, the old EL2 form WILL NOT be accepted.

Please keep in mind that the FHSAA requires all student athletes to view free video courses on concussions, heat illness, and sudden cardiac arrest (see instructions below). Signatures on the EL3 form indicate that your athlete has completed these three video courses. The FHSAA also requires that all student athletes have at least a 2.0 unweighted GPA to be eligible for participation.
