April 2020
We've all heard it, we've all said it; These are historic, crazy, wild, weird, uncomfortable times. Like you, we're staying home as much as possible, trying to work as well as we can. Our travel department remains open from our living room, available via email to help reschedule your impacted trips, or plan your next escape. We're taking care of maintenance at the store per guidelines to ensure our pool is ready for your next class, our equipment is serviced, sanitized and safe, and we have taken several of our classes online to take advantage of this extra time at home. We are grateful for our SCUBA family and friends who have supported us through this time, sending their love our way virtually. If you're missing the underwater world, this newsletter is filled with ideas of how you can stay involved with SCUBA diving from home!

We can't wait to see you all soon and blow some bubbles together. Stay safe!
Do you, like us, desperately need some Vitamin Sea? Then join us in Cayman Brac in July for a healthy dose of sun, sand and Sea!
We will be spending 7 nights at the Brac Beach Resort, overlooking the beach with everything right at our fingertips: restaurant, beach, bar, and of course, diving!
Cayman Brac is known in the diving world for its lush reefs, legendary walls, bountiful marine life and wonderful visibility. You will find total relaxation with its laid-back Caribbean charm and beautiful beaches. Come join us for a week of fun, relaxation, great food and memorable diving.
To sign up for this trip, or ask any questions, cick here for more information or email our travel department.
In light of the CDC recommendation that we all wear masks when out in public (not dive masks!) we’ve brought back our popular One World brand Buffs! These multifunctional headbands are a great reminder not to touch your face while also protecting your community and showing your support for your favorite dive shop!

Small businesses across the country are struggling right now, and dive shops are no exception. If you are looking for a way to help the Dive and Travel industry stick around through this trying time, here are a few ideas that we would really appreciate!

1)     Leave an online review ~ Reviews are a big deal to small businesses. New customers check online reviews all the time and Google uses them to determine when a business shows up in a search. If you’re looking for something to do in quarantine, leave us a review on Yelp, Facebook, or Google.

2)    Comment, like, share, shout us out, or tag a friend on our posts ~ We do our best to bring you fun and entertaining travel news and pictures every day on Facebook and Instagram. Leaving a comment, liking, sharing and tagging helps our posts reach a larger community to spread the passion about SCUBA diving and traveling.

3)   Take an online class ~ from Enriched Air Nitrox to our GoPro seminar, we have plenty of options to keep your dive knowledge fresh. Many other PADI courses can be started online and finished when we are all back together again.

4)   Buy a gift card, or order some gear ~ Purchasing a gift card or other item during this time gives our business the resources to stay around while giving you an investment in some new gear or a fun trip when this is all over. Check out our online store for options.

5)     Book a trip ~ Nothing gets us through a boring day like having a new adventure to look forward to. Contact our travel specialists to plan a get-away!

Bonus)   Send us an email or connect on social ~ We’d love to hear from you to know how you and your family are doing. Drop us a note; We appreciate your love and support and look forward to being here to serve your dive and travel needs for years to come.
Just because we have to stay at home doesn't mean we can't learn something new. Join us for our virtual GoPro seminar via Zoom and take advantage of this time.

Divers are a hearty bunch, and if there’s one thing we love, it’s planning our next dive. Just because we can’t splash in the pool right now doesn’t mean we can’t prepare for our next trip. There are lots of continuing education classes available online to further your dive education from the safe confines of your quarantine. Even better, all eLearning is currently 20% OFF! Here are just a few of our favorites:

1.       Open Water
Do you have kids or a loved one whose not a diver and needs something to do with all this down time? How about introducing them to diving through eLEarning? They can start their education online and be ready to join a class when we re-open for training with an instructor.

2.       Advanced Open Water
This is a great con-ed class from home. When you sign up for the eLearning, you get access to all of the PADI specialties. You can read about any number of interesting dive skills.

3.       Rescue Diver
This is by far our favorite course from both a student and instructor perspective. Learn to be a better dive buddy and safer diver while preparing yourself to learn the tactile skills of helping someone else.

4.       Enriched Air Nitrox
Offered almost entirely from home, our Enriched Air Nitrox starts with studying from home, followed by a Zoom course with one of our instructors. The final step takes place at the store with analyzing tanks. This certification couldn't be any more suited for quarantine learning!

5.       Divemaster
Even Divemaster can be started online. If you’ve always thought working in the dive industry sounded interesting, here’s a great chance to give it a go. Start with the online modules and then our top notch staff will be excited to see you when our pool is open for business.

Visit our website for details, or email us with questions. When you sign up through our website, you’ll get an email with your access code to get started today!
If you’re feeling down and need to remember some fun times or see some amazing destinations, remember that our social media has lots of great pictures and videos for you to explore. Check out our trip videos on YouTube and enjoy lots of breath-taking photos on our Instagram and Facebook pages.  We’ve had a lot of great memories together and we can use those for a little inspiration to get through this!
POOL NIGHT ~ Whether you have 10 dives logged or 1,000, all divers should jump in the water to refresh and review the skills from the Open Water certification. We offer a couple of ways to review depending on your experience
The pool will be available from 6:00-9:00 pm on the following nights:

  • May 11th
  • June 18th

Rescheduled trips have you miss your two year window to stay fresh? Then our Scuba Refreshers are the choice for you!

SCUBA REFRESHERS ~ If it’s been longer than 2 years since your last dive, then you’ll need a SCUBA REFRESHER. In this four hour class, instructors will share practical tips from their personal experience of diving and jump in the water with you to make sure you are comfortable setting up your gear, controlling your buoyancy and review your emergency skills. The class is offered three times each month, and is often required by a resort if you haven't been diving in a year. If you have been out of the water for longer than 10 years, you will need to schedule this class privately.
Call the shop at 303-220-8282 for more information or click here for information on our upcoming SCUBA Refresher courses.
