Reporting Storm Damage
During severe weather such as a tropical storm or hurricane, LWDD offers an online Citizens Damage Reporting System. Designed to provide an easy way for residents to report flooding issues using GPS mapping technology. Residents can pin a location on a live map, complete some basic information and submit their report. LWDD staff will be notified, and necessary response crews can be dispatched. Only monitored during severe weather, residents can practice using the reporting system now using the link below.

Dangers In Using Public Land for Personal Use
The increasing frequency and intensity of our hurricanes, tropical depressions, and thunderstorms requires more than ever the regular maintenance of LWDD’s 500 miles of drainage canals and 1,000 miles of associated rights-of-way. Maintenance and rehabilitation of these canals provide the free flow of water in the canal channel and unencumbered access along both sides of the canal bank. Flood control is a shared responsibility between water managers, businesses and residents. Keeping the rights-of-way clear is an important public safety role for property owners. Read more at the link below.

Moving Survey Stakes - Who Will Know?
LWDD places survey stakes along the canal rights-of-way to help indicate the location of property lines for residents. This may also identify encroachments such as vegetation, fencing, sheds or other structures that have been located on public property. Moving survey stakes will be noticed by LWDD crews and will be corrected. If you believe the stakes are in the wrong location or have documents that contradict the location, do not move the stakes, instead contact us at info@lwdd.net or 561-498-5363.

Resource For Property Managers
The Homeowner's Handbook To Prepare For Natural Disasters is a good resource to share with your residents particularly those new to Florida's hurricanes and tropical storms. Provided by the University of Florida/IFAS, it is designed to be an easy to use reference for both homeowners and renters on disaster preparedness. Download and share using the link below.
