Alberta Youth Employment Incentive

Qualified employers can receive up to $7,500 to hire Albertans aged 15 to 24, helping you fill workforce needs today while investing in the skilled workforce of tomorrow.

Hired youth must:

• Be an Alberta resident and Canadian citizen or PR
• Be between 15-24 years of age at the start of employment
• Not be working with the same employer applicant and in the same position at the time of and prior to the employer applying for the incentive

VOLUNTEER

Girl Guides - Riverbend

Welcome to Girl Guides! We are accepting applications for 2 adult volunteers to join the leadership team.

As part of the team, you’ll facilitate fun and engaging program activities, like scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, outdoor exploration, games and more with our Guides (9-11 years).

No experience necessary

Volunteers will receive access to a digital program platform stocked with age-appropriate activities and meeting tools, as well as training on how to deliver activities in ways that will empower and encourage girls.

We meet on Monday 6.15pm - 7.45pm during the school year.

Volunteers commit to 3 hours per week for unit meetings plus additional hours, when required, for trips and events.

Successful applicants will complete the screening and onboarding process immediately and then complete self paced training with a local mentor during the summer months. This role will be with the Guide group from September 2026 thru to June 2027 and may be continued on as desired after that.

Sports Equipment Repair: Sports Central

Sport Central is committed to keeping equipment out of the landfills by repairing donated equipment in need of minor repairs.

Sport Central Repair Shop Hours:

Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm*

A Sport Equipment Repair Volunteer will salvage components and repair a variety of sports equipment (either by hand or with our sewing machines).

Typical repair items include:

• Hockey Gloves
• Hockey Pants
• Hockey Jocks
• Neck guard
• Goalie Gloves & Pads
• Shoulder Pads
• Helmet Repair
• Baseball Gloves.

Additional Repair / Shop Duties:

• Skate Sharpening
• Snowboard binding adjusting
• rollerblade repair / grease bearings

*While we are grateful to all applicants, our ideal applicant is available in the mornings / early afternoon for training (once training is completed, volunteer can adjust schedule).

Dog Walker - ElderDog Edmonton

We're looking for volunteers to walk dogs for seniors with mobility issues in the Edmonton area. This is an ongoing commitment, typically once per week.

Once you are set up as a volunteer, we'll send you an email when we have a dog requiring a walker. You can respond to the opportunities that you're interested in and we'll set you up on a weekly walking schedule that works for you. Most clients have a team of walkers that support each other and help fill in during absences.
