Employment Unlocked!
Kaden* attended one of our recent Interview Preparation Workshops at Kickstand - which was conveniently scheduled the same day as his interview at Taco Shop!
He talked with our Youth Employment Coordinator about the questions he was a little nervous about and best ways to address his employment history, then he walked down to his interview right in West Edmonton Mall! After the interview Kaden came back to ask for advice about navigating references, and a day later he informed us that he had gotten the job! Way to go!
If you've recently been employed and would like to share your story with other participants going through the experience of employment, let us know! We'd love to feature you!

| | Day Camp Counsellor: Summer Programs All Locations | |
Spend your summer making a difference as a Day Camp Counsellor! This program is all about creating fun, safe, and inclusive experiences for children and youth aged 3–15, while building your leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. You’ll be at the heart of camp life — planning and leading activities, engaging with campers, and helping create memories that last a lifetime.
This is a contract position from June 15, 2026 to August 21, 2026
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- High school diploma or post-secondary education related to recreation, child studies, education, or physical education is an asset.
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-C certification or willing to obtain.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Enthusiastic, creative, and confident in leading safe and inclusive activities.
- Eager to learn and open to receiving feedback on soft skills and digital presence in the workplace.
- Experience working with children and youth in camp, recreation, or educational settings is an asset.

Studio Coordinator
Backbeat

We're looking for someone to be the face of Backbeat. The Studio Coordinator is the first person students and families see when they walk into Backbeat and your number one priority is to make sure that their experience with Backbeat is an awesome one.
The ideal candidate will be obsessed with customer service and think that kids are both hilarious and awesome. They will also have the ability to set a vibe that's so positive it permeates through all of Backbeat. Oh and did we mention you also need to be organized, a great writer, reliable, have an insane attention to detail and not be above cleaning a toilet or two?
If we've just described you to a T, we can't wait to hear from you.
Must be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday mid-afternoon and evenings. Part-time position.

Alberta Youth Employment Incentive
Qualified employers can receive up to $7,500 to hire Albertans aged 15 to 24, helping you fill workforce needs today while investing in the skilled workforce of tomorrow.
Hired youth must:
- Be an Alberta resident and Canadian citizen or PR
- Be between 15-24 years of age at the start of employment
- Not be working with the same employer applicant and in the same position at the time of and prior to the employer applying for the incentive

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT INTERNSHIPS
If you want to make some money, earn high school credits, and try out some of Alberta’s most in-demand careers, then you’ve come to the right place.
CAREERS will match you with an employer for a student internship, which is basically a short-term job that gives you hands-on experience.
You can do this during the school year, or over the summer – no experience necessary! Not sure what kind of internship is right for you?

U21 Information Sessions
CAREERS is excited to offer our internship program for youth who are under the age of 21. To qualify for an internship, you must attend one virtual information session presented by CAREERS.
During the presentation you will learn more about the program, discover the various internship opportunities available, and get started on an application. The session will be approximately 45 minutes with time at the end for questions.

Kin Canada $1000 Bursaries: Apply Through Application Form!
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are open October 1, 2025 until February 1, 2026.
Eligibility
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be a full-time student in the process of graduating from high school or currently studying or registered at a post-secondary institution.
- Must complete the current application form by February 1. Bursary winners are notified before June 30 by their sponsoring club.
- Must not have previously been awarded a Kin Canada Bursary.
- Will be evaluated on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need.

BGC Canada Scholarships
By providing access to post-secondary education, BGC Canada helps set young people on the path to academic success.
BGC Canada post-secondary scholarships are available to BGC Club members. If you are interested in applying for a BGC scholarship, please ask your Club staff for information on how to apply.

2SLGBTQIA+ Success Award
Value: $2,000
Awarded annually to one (1) grade 12 Alberta high school student who identifies as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Two-Spirit etc. (2SLGBTQIA+). Applicants must also demonstrate the following qualities in their applications: good character and leadership skills. Preference will be given to applicants who express an interest in pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

ScholarshipsCanada.com is part of the SchoolFinder Group. The site has been helping students find scholarships since 1997. Their mission is to help students realize their dreams by making it possible for students to attend the school of their choice without being limited by the cost.
The website lists all relevant scholarships and bursaries free of charge. They try to update each listing annually and students are matched to scholarships and bursaries when they create an account.
