Strike Group: Canadian Immigrant Scholarship – open from Jan 1 – March 31

The Strike Group Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (“EDI”) Scholarship Program will contribute to the creation of a critical mass of talented students that will fully represent our industry—it will provide an environment in which all can thrive academically and professionally. We believe everyone has a right to education, and we are committed to providing people in historically underrepresented groups with financial aid. Annually Strike will be offering a variety of $2,000 EDI scholarships for students living in Western Canada.

Eligibility: Immigration is a welcome and necessary part of growing Canada’s economy and it helps to ensure we have qualified workers to fill available jobs. Strike supports immigrants and welcomes this opportunity to give back to individuals that are stimulating innovation and helping to develop important cross-cultural competencies. You are encouraged to apply for this scholarship if you immigrated to Western Canada and are pursuing an education in the trades or post-secondary.

Amount: $2000

Application requirements:

• Proof of enrollment in either post-secondary or trades program;

• Required verification for the particular scholarship you are applying to;

• Two reference letters; and

• Completed Strike Group EDI Scholarship Application.

BlueCross Indigenous Scholarship

Our scholarships for Indigenous students work to address the education inequity faced by Indigenous peoples in Alberta by making post-secondary studies more financially accessible. The $1,500 awards are based on scholastic achievement, financial need and community involvement. Scholarship recipients are selected by an external committee with expertise in academia and Indigenous education. We award 9 scholarships each year to Indigenous students enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be a member of a First Nation or band, or have Inuit, Métis or Indian status as referenced on the Indigenous Services Canada website.
• Applicants must be residents of Alberta and have lived here for the past 12 months.
• Applicants must be enrolled in any full-time post-secondary certificate or diploma program of 2 or more years duration at an Alberta-based, accredited post-secondary institution.
• Applicants cannot have received an Indigenous scholarship from Alberta Blue Cross® in the past.
• All applicants must clearly describe their community involvement, personal goals and financial need, and submit 2 reference letters for evaluation.

Amount: $1500

Alberta's government offers scholarships and awards to encourage and reward the excellence of Albertans in post-secondary study.

Scholarship areas include Academics, Athletics, Citizenship/Leadership, Indigenous, Language, and Technology.
