A BGCBigs Youth Employment Participant recently embarked on a new adventure of learning - with Elevate Aviation!
The Elevate Aviation Learning Centre began in 2018 when the Government of Alberta provided grant funding to launch what is now known as the Aviation Career Exploration (ACE) Program in Edmonton, Alberta. The program ran in person career awareness workshops for youth and women ages 15-24.
Today the Elevate Aviation Learning Centre offers a unique approach to awareness and training in the aviation and aerospace industry. Our programming has expanded to engage individuals at all stages of life into aviation through career exploration, accessible experiences, training programs and mentorship to lead them to a career of economic stability and prosperity.

Instructor: Child and Youth

Responsibilities:
The Child and Youth Instructor delivers quality instruction in our Child and Youth programs to members and participants. This role may lead one or more YMCA programs - including basketball, soccer, floor hockey, volleyball, creative arts and leadership - while creating a safe, fun and welcoming environment for participants ages 3 to 17 years. Within our Child Minding program, you will be responsible for the care, safety and well-being of multiple children at one time while their parents attend YMCA Programming within the building. You will be required to display an understanding of the healthy development of children in this age group and to clearly communicate with children between 2 months- 12 years old and their parents in a positive, caring and respectful manner.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset.
- Early Childhood development or related experience is an asset.
- NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills is an asset.
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-C.
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Alberta Youth Employment Incentive
Qualified employers can receive up to $7,500 to hire Albertans aged 15 to 24, helping you fill workforce needs today while investing in the skilled workforce of tomorrow.
Hired youth must:
- Be an Alberta resident and Canadian citizen or PR
- Be between 15-24 years of age at the start of employment
- Not be working with the same employer applicant and in the same position at the time of and prior to the employer applying for the incentive

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT INTERNSHIPS
If you want to make some money, earn high school credits, and try out some of Alberta’s most in-demand careers, then you’ve come to the right place.
CAREERS will match you with an employer for a student internship, which is basically a short-term job that gives you hands-on experience.
You can do this during the school year, or over the summer – no experience necessary! Not sure what kind of internship is right for you?

U21 Information Sessions
CAREERS is excited to offer our internship program for youth who are under the age of 21. To qualify for an internship, you must attend one virtual information session presented by CAREERS.
During the presentation you will learn more about the program, discover the various internship opportunities available, and get started on an application. The session will be approximately 45 minutes with time at the end for questions.

Ballad’s Professional Insurance Careers program is thoughtfully designed to meet the evolving needs of the insurance and finance sector. This 16-week program will provide participants with essential skills in licensing and the workplace to thrive in the dynamic insurance industry.
This program is available for Alberta residents who are:
- A Permanent Resident or Citizen of Canada
- 18 years of age or older
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Unemployed or Underemployed (working less than 20 hours per week)
- Collecting Employment Insurance, or have collected in the last 5 years
- Out of post-secondary or equivalent for at least 1 full calendar year
- Interested in obtaining a full-time career in Insurance
- Dedicated to 12 weeks of in-class training to successfully obtain the GLQP1 and LLQP
- Located in Edmonton and area

Kin Canada $1000 Bursaries: Apply Through Application Form!
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are open October 1, 2025 until February 1, 2026.
Eligibility
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be a full-time student in the process of graduating from high school or currently studying or registered at a post-secondary institution.
- Must complete the current application form by February 1. Bursary winners are notified before June 30 by their sponsoring club.
- Must not have previously been awarded a Kin Canada Bursary.
- Will be evaluated on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need.

Belcourt Brosseau Metis Awards
Are you a Métis student from Alberta? The BBMAs can support you by covering between $1,000 and $10,000 of your tuition and fees.
Applications open: Jan 2nd
Applications close: March 31 6:00 p.m.
Eligibility:
- Membership with the Otipemisiwak Métis Government or a Métis Settlement (Note: if you are in process of receiving citizenship or membership you will need to upload a letter saying you have applied for it)
- Alberta Residence and Canadian Citizenship
- Studying in an eligible program at an eligible post-secondary
