We LOVE helpers at Crafternoon! Your presence is essential to ensuring the event runs smoothly and the attendees have a great time.
Volunteer shifts run from 30 minutes to 2 hours. We provide all the training you need, and welcome ages teen and up of all abilities. Enthusiasm is the top requirement! This is a great, low barrier way to get involved with Ritchie. We can't host events without our dedicated volunteers!

🌟 Scholarship Spotlights🌟

This program includes instruction of water safety education, first aid, CPR and leadership skills. These program areas complement each other, teaching a respect for Mother Earth, and especially the element of water.
Participants have 2 years to complete the program. Registration and intake happens each year in August and September. However, we do take applicants in throughout the program year on a monthly basis as space is available.
An additional year may be granted based upon eligibility and program space.
Qualifications
-
Fill out the Application Form and participate in an interview with the Nîkânîw programmer
- Indigenous Ancestry - First Nation, Métis, Inuit or other
- 14-22 years old during the program season
- Committed to training in aquatics
- Able to commit to regularly attending the program
Participants Will Receive
- A City of Edmonton Leisure Centre facility pass for the duration of enrolment
- Program supplies and materials
- A meal on the first session of each week
- Aquatic leadership courses provided by the City of Edmonton

Young Edmonton Grant:
Young Edmonton Grants (YEG) Program provides local youth with funding to turn their ideas into reality. This program supports projects initiated, led, and organized by young residents of Edmonton and the surrounding area, aged 13 to 24. The application deadline is October 15, 2024, for projects starting after December 1, 2024.
Successful YEG Applications will:
· Be awarded grants between $500-$3,000
· Be initiated and organized by Edmonton and area residents aged 13 to 24
· Partner with a registered Canada Revenue Agency charity (including schools)
Youth VOICE Grant:
Youth VOICE Grants are available for innovative projects or activities initiated, led, and organized by students currently enrolled in Grades 7-12 in schools within the Greater Edmonton area. Teams of two or more students can apply for up to $5,000 by the October 31 deadline for projects starting after January 1, 2025. These projects should raise awareness of a community issue, address a community need, or resolve an identified challenge in the community.
Successful Youth VOICE Applications will:
·Be awarded grants up to $5,000 to support innovative projects or activities
·Be initiated and organized by a team of students in Grades 7 to 12 in the Greater Edmonton Area
·Partner with their school and/or a community organization that is a registered charity

Burger King Foundation: Opening October 15 2024
Scholarships range from $1,000 to $60,000 and are intended to offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected through an application process that takes into consideration their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities, financial need and community service. In 2024 alone, the Foundation awarded over $4.5 million in scholarships to nearly 4,200 students. Scholarship status updates were shared on Monday, April 20, 2024.
The application period for the 2024-2025 will open from October 15, 2024 to December 15, 2024. Scholarship recipients will be notified April 2025. Click here to view the scholarship eligibility requirements.

Metis Nation of Alberta Scholarships
"Each year, Métis Nation of Alberta provides scholarships to reward outstanding academic achievement. Scholarships are open to Métis students pursuing post-secondary education. Scholarship recipients receive both monetary reward and recognition during the November Métis Week celebration.
The deadline for scholarship applications is October 31st of the current year. Please submit application packages to scholarship@metis.org. For all scholarship questions, email us."

ScholarshipsCanada.com is part of the SchoolFinder Group. The site has been helping students find scholarships since 1997. Their mission is to help students realize their dreams by making it possible for students to attend the school of their choice without being limited by the cost.
The website lists all relevant scholarships and bursaries free of charge. They try to update each listing annually and students are matched to scholarships and bursaries when they create an account.

Students in foundational learning or skills development programs may qualify for funding to cover education and living costs.
Foundational Learning Assistance helps you:
- Improve English language skills
- Complete academic upgrading for a high school diploma or post-secondary prerequisites
- Gain in-demand skills for employment
This monthly financial award is based on household financial need and covers:
- Educational costs: tuition, mandatory fees, student association fees, and books and supplies
- Living costs: food, clothing, personal needs, transportation, rent/mortgage, and utilities
Eligibility:
- Enrolled in an approved program for Foundational Learning Assistance
- 18 years of age or 16-17 under certain circumstances (see policy manual)
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected person legally entitled to work and study in Canada
- Valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Residency:
- Established Alberta address
- In Alberta at the time of acceptance into the program
- Border community residents are considered residents of their home postal code province/territory
Employment Status:
- Unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week
Over 40 educational providers in Alberta offer approved programs, including public post-secondary institutions, private career colleges, First Nations colleges, and non-profit organizations. Contact institutions directly to check program approval for Foundational Learning Assistance.
