LET'S TALK ABOUT THE POTTY
Introduce your child to things related to potty time by going on a fun potty-themed scavenger hunt together! Search your home for things like toilet paper, hand soap, and big kid underwear. At the end of the game ask your little one, “What do all the things that we found have in common?” #TalkingIsTeaching

Tips Calendar:
Talking is Teaching
Potty training means spending lots of time in the bathroom with your little one! Make it fun by asking silly questions that get your child thinking and giggling like, “How many watermelons do you think would fit in the bathtub?” and “Why do you think toilets are on the ground and not the ceiling?” #TalkingIsTeaching

Talking is Teaching

Using a toilet outside of the comfort of home can be a little scary for your potty-training child. Talk about the different signs that help point us to the nearest restroom while out and about. Challenge your little one to point out as many restrooms as they can while out in public places so that they become familiar with potties away from home. #TalkingIsTeaching

Join us at the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum for a Parent Café hosted by the Gratiot-Isabella Great Start Family Coalition!
Parent Cafés are safe spaces for parents and caregivers to relax, reflect, and talk about the joys and challenges of raising a family. Parent Cafés are judgment-free zones where we share experiences and resources while learning from one another. We’ll learn more about ourselves, our parenting, and how to build our families’ resilience!
We’ll be having a series of five Parent Cafés, and you can come to one or all of them!
March 5, 2024: Morning Parent Café from 10-noon OR evening Parent Café from 5-7 PM. Register here for the March 5th Parent Café!
April 2, 2024: Morning Parent Café from 10-noon OR evening Parent Café from 5-7 PM. Register here for the April 2nd Parent Café!
May 7, 2024: Morning Parent Café from 10-noon OR evening Parent Café from 5-7 PM. Register here for the May 7th Parent Café!
Please note: We have a morning and an evening session on each date, and both of the Parent Cafés on the same date have the same topic and discussion. For that reason, it’s best not to plan to attend the morning and evening Parent Café on the same day.
- Bring your kids! The Parent Cafés will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum, so your kids can play while you attend the Parent Café! We’ll have plenty of childcare volunteers to watch and play with the kids while you get some grownup time.
- We’ll have food! The morning session will have snacks, and the evening sessions will provide dinner for you and your family!
- Win prizes! We’ll be raffling off gift cards, books, admission to the Discovery Museum, and other goodies!
- Make money! We’re offering a $30 stipend for all parents/caregivers who participate, and we’re also reimbursing for your mileage to get there!
Any questions? Just email Michele at mmonroe@giresd.net! And to stay in the loop about events, resources, and other great stuff for families and kids, follow us on Facebook!
