Measuring for a Garment
BUST – You want to measure around the fullest part of the bust making sure the tape comes across the back within the area of the bra strap and around the side under armpit (side boob) across larger part of the bust (nipple area) taking measurement where tape meets in cleavage. {please be sure you are wearing a regular – non padded bra and no sports bra for accurate measurement and thin shirt}
HINT: Strapless dresses you will want a snugger measurement – please consult a professional or schedule a measurement service with me.
WAIST – You want to measure natural waist making sure tape comes across lower or small of back around the side (natural waist – you can bend side to side and tape should match to that area) around the front, taking measurement where tape meets at or slightly above or slightly below belly button. (within an inch to no more than 2”) {please be sure you are wearing a thin shirt}
HIP – You want to measure fullest part of the butt, around widest part of the hip to at or slightly above or below the pelvic bone, taking your measurement where the tape meets. {please be sure you have nothing in your pockets and no bulky pants on}
Hint: if you are measuring for a mermaid style or trumpet style dress that is fitted you need to account for sitting and walking as these are limited ranges of motion in this style of dresses. Please consult a professional or schedule measurement service with me.
FYI: Ladies your time of the month can affect the fit of your dress – boobs swell, bloating, etc. as well as salt intake
