Celebrating the Women in Our Lives

The month of May is a time to celebrate the women in our lives. Here at Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County (HFHNCC) that means not only celebrating many of our Habitat homeowners, but also many of our volunteers, staff, and board members.

This month we honor the women who help Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County continue to build homes, communities, and hope through a Women's Build Day on May 7th.

These women come from all walks of life. They can be businesswomen, Habitat homeowners, stay-at-home mothers, students, wives, and sisters.

While Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County devotes one week to celebrate these women, they impact our organization year-round. Here's just a few ways the women (and men behind HFHNCC) make an impact:

We want to give a shoutout to three of the many volunteer groups who helped build this month. WingMom joined us for our Women's Build Day during Mother's Day Weekend, hosted a hardworking group of Barclays' employees on our construction site, and welcomed dedicated employees from Keller Williams in our ReStores.

On May 12th, Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County and our affiliates in Kent and Sussex Counties received the 2022 Legacy Award presented at Multiplying Good's 10th Anniversary Salute to Service - A Jefferson Award Celebration.

ReStore Updates

Welcome to the Habitat ReStore Family,

Roechelle Hopkins-Chapman

Roechelle has joined the ReStore Prices Corner team, in the newly created role of Merchandising Coordinator. Roechelle is a Delawarean who studied Retail and Restaurant Management at Charleston Job Corps in West Virginia. Roechelle has nearly 20 years of management experience at companies including Walmart, Family Dollar, and Dollar General.

Rock the Block: Simonds Gardens

Join us on June 25th for our next Rock the Block event. The focus will be an unused concrete bus stop. We will be providing benches for the bus stop and transforming the space into a rain garden for the residents in Simonds Gardens.
