Parents' Gratitude on Behalf of Their Son
“Shane is getting the best resources possible to lead the best life that he will have."
Karen and Ray Mott noticed some developmental delays in their son, Shane, when he was only a few months old. It wasn’t until he was one year and four months old that they would learn Shane’s official diagnosis. Today, Shane is a bright-eyed young boy, and Karen and Ray Mott are grateful for Abilities First and the resources Shane was able to access.

Stephanie's Path Toward Independence & Self-Reliance
Stephanie has been in the AF Community Habilitation program for over 20 years. Through her hard work and commitment, Stephanie moved out of her parents' home and into her own apartment in 2018. She takes responsibility for her apartment and herself, manages her own banking, and spends her free time with friends.
You can't help but be inspired by Stephanie's journey as she builds a life for herself that is rooted in independence and self-reliance.

YOU Helped Give HEROES HOPE
The interest and generosity of this community to support The Campaign to HONOR OUR HEROES has meant a great deal to the frontline HEROES who carry out the mission of Abilities First. The success of the campaign ensured critical funding was available to safeguard the staff and individuals they support with the purchase of essential PPE (personal protective equipment - masks, face-shields, gowns, goggles, and more). Funding played an invaluable role in enhancing the quality of life, activities, and resources for those individuals who were otherwise restricted to their residential programs and without access to the usual external interactions and recreation they enjoy. Be it exercise equipment, a catered meal, electronics to communicate with family at a distance, or prizes for Bingo night, your support made a profound difference. On behalf of the staff, students, and individuals, Thank YOU for helping us through this difficult time!

Shout-out to Bergen Mask Task Force
Thank you to the Bergen Mask Task Force for your endless support of homemade masks throughout this pandemic. Your generous volunteers from Bergen County Academies have been real lifesavers.

Martuccis support NEW! Preschool in New Windsor
NYS Sen. Michael Martucci and his wife, Erin, generously extended their personal commitment to the success of the new Abilities First Preschool on Executive Drive in New Windsor long before its planned opening. The newly renovated spaces and classrooms are filled with state-of-the-art equipment, supplies, and toys.
A team of dedicated professionals are ready to support the needs of each student in their development toward independence. The pandemic delayed regulatory approvals for the opening of this newest Abilities First site. The school is scheduled to open February 2021!
