What I Like About You

This week I celebrated my birthday. My staff held a mini-birthday party for me during our weekly staff meeting. They gave me a simple gift, the gift of encouragement. Each one shared one thing (although some broke the rules and shared a few more) that they liked about me. Simple, free, and yet very uplifting. My family also gives this gift of encouragement at birthday gatherings, and it is fun to do. Even the youngest get in on it. This tradition focuses on the positive side of people and encourages the one receiving the compliments. Thanks for the kind words family and friends!

" Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Phil 4:8
"...but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." Hebrews 10:25

Costa Mesa Church Update
Our 2018 Spanish-language church plant in Costa Mesa continues to grow! God is blessing Pastor Mauricio Rivas and his wife Reyna in their ministry. Attendance has grown by more than 70 percent in
the last two years. They continue to expand their facilities in the small shopping center where they are located. Just recently they leased four more spaces to accommodate more classroom and activity space for the kids; nursery through
junior high. However, with seven rental spaces in the plaza, the rent is very high! Pray with us that they find alternative space in a church building or other facilities in Costa Mesa.

Redeemer Burbank Update
Five years ago, there were fewer than 30 people gathering at Valley Baptist Church in Burbank on Sundays. PCN was asked to help revitalize it. PCN placed their VP, Brian Howard, as the interim pastor, then handed it off to a church planter, Mike Brown. This spring, a fter 20 years in Nevada, Pastor Harvey Turner accepted the call to come back to California, where he was born and spent his childhood. Nearly 200 people now worship at what is now called Redeemer Burbank. PCN is thrilled to be a part of both planting and revitalizing churches. We hope to see this happen dozens of more times across Southern California!
