For two days, May 28-29, the High Commissioner of India, Mr. Vikas Swarup and the President of Canada India Business Council, Kasi Rao, visited Thunder Bay and Terrace Bay to discuss potential business opportunities.
Piero Pucci, Supervisor of Economic Development for the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) facilitated the visit and hosted the tour. The tour comprised of visiting with the Presidents of Lakehead University, Dr. Moira McPherson, and Confederation College, Kathleen Lynch, as well as with the College’s Student President, Vignesh Viswanathan.
Afterwards the group was taken to Cyclotron which was guided by Jesse Walker, Director of Cyclotron Operations.
The evening of May 28
the group met with the Mayor Jody Davis of Terrace Bay, Thunder Bay Councilors Kristen Oliver and Peng You, Chamber President Charla Robinson and Doug Murray CEO of CEDC.
On May 29, the High Commissioner visited the AV Birla Plant in Terrace Bay and had a warm reception at the Lake Superior High School, the Home of the Stingers. He spoke to students from the elementary and high schools of Terrace Bay and Schreiber. For lunch the group met with Mayor Jody Davis of Terrace Bay, Mayor Dave Hamilton of Schreiber and other local officials.

As well, the upcoming Festival of India in Thunder Bay shows the cultural vibrancy of the City and the region.”
