Easter Flowers for Loved Ones

Order your flowers now to help decorate the worship area for Easter in your loved ones' names. Flowers are a $20 donation and need to be ordered by Wednesday, March 27th. Since Easter season is 6 weeks long, flowers will be kept at church as long as they stay healthy. Envelopes are available on the table in the Narthex for those paying with cash or check. Those envelopes can either be put in the collection baskets at weekend Masses or dropped off at Parish office. Click here to order your Easter flowers. Thank you!

Holy Week Volunteers Needed

There are many Ministry Schedule openings available for the coming Holy Week services. Please consider offering your time and talents during this upcoming Holy Week to enhance our Liturgies. If you are a current minister, you can go into the ministry schedule to volunteer. If you are not on the Ministry Schedule and would like to volunteer, please contact Nick Rahe in the parish office at 515-964-1278 or [email protected]. Thank you!

Washing of Feet

We will need 12 people at Holy Thursday Mass to have their feet washed. Children under 10 need to be supervised by their parents. Please be ready to remove 1 shoe and sock for the washing. Women should dress modestly. Check in when you arrive at Mass on Thursday.

Holy Week/Easter Sunday

As our CRS Rice Bowl journey comes to an end, may the Eucharist continue to transform our lives and help us respond to God’s call to serve our global family. Let us commit to sharing the joy of the Resurrection with people in our local community and around the world.

Don’t forget to turn in your CRS Rice Bowl to the labeled bin in the narthex or donate online at: https://bit.ly/3HL6L4f.

Living Like the Saints

This month we are guided by Saint Katharine Drexel. The love of St. Katharine's life was the Eucharist. She once said “my sweetest joy is to be in the presence of Jesus in the holy sacrament." Remember Jesus as we enter Holy Week ending with Easter celebration along with and the rising of Jesus from the dead and the forgiveness of our sins. A reminder to turn in your Rice Bowl to the office next week and that April 5 is the last day to enter your completed March challenges here.

At St. Luke's School during Lent, we are taking a journey with Jesus through the gospel of Mark. Students will be reflecting on a gospel reading each school day. We are pairing the readings with our morning announcements each day.

Check out the March Saint of the Day Calendar here.

April's Living Like the Saints program will feature St. Philip Neri. To learn more about St. Philip Neri, click here.

Parish Eucharistic T-Shirt Design Contest

Put your design skills to the test in the St. Luke's Parish Eucharistic T-Shirt Design Contest! The contest will be open to everyone 5 years old and above! There will be two categories for submission. You can design a t-shirt for adults or kids. Designs must be only two colors (one color printed on a different color t-shirt) and must be a Eucharistic theme. There will be two winning designs that will be on our parish t-shirts for sale around $18 in May and June! We will also use this t-shirt instead of the VBS shirts this year so they can be reused and worn again. The artists with the winning designs will also receive a $25 Amazon gift card! Please submit a jpg, png, or picture file of your design to Stacy at [email protected] by April 30th!

St. Luke's Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt will be divided into 3 groups:

Church and Families Welcome!!

Divine Mercy Sunday

The focus of Divine Mercy Sunday centers on the gift of mercy and love given through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. In a world that hears a message of emptiness or hate, Divine Mercy Sunday proclaims the path to peace is through forgiveness and tenderness.

Join us at OLIH on April 7th to implore God’s mercy on the ills that we are experiencing in today’s world. We will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 1:00pm followed by praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00pm.

Attention St. Luke's Gardeners

Spring is right around the corner! If you or your family is interested in participating in any aspect of St. Luke's Garden (or side flower or grass beds), a spring planning meeting is scheduled at 9:30 am in the gymnasium on April 14 (following the 8:30 am Mass).

If you aren't able to attend, feel free to reach out to Margaret Spikes at 515-418-3460 or [email protected].

Activities included during the gardening season include: spring cleanup, unloading compost, planting row crops, tomatoes, peppers and squash, watering, weeding and harvesting. While regular gardening times are typically on Saturday mornings (time dependent on weather...earlier as it gets hotter...), depending on the task, some of the work can be done as your schedule allows. We look forward to the 2024 garden season!

St. Vincent de Paul Raffle Tickets

Mark your Calendar for April 13 &14. St. Vincent de Paul will have raffle tickets available in the narthex after each Mass. The tickets are $1.00 each or $5.00 for a book of 6 tickets. The proceeds from the raffle are used to Fight Hunger in central Iowa. The drawing will be held on May 23, 2024.
