Spend Your Thanksgiving Helping
Sometimes the best way to nourish yourself is to nourish others. The Thanksgiving holiday season offers a wonderful time to think about ways to do that. Contact these local agencies to see how you can help:

  • The HOMESTEAD Nutrition Project has 29 meal sites located in northwest Kansas and delivers meals to an additional 10 towns. The HOMESTEAD Nutrition Project is funded through participant contributions, federal, state and county funds.
  • The Congregate Meals program is designed to bring people age 60 and over together to share a hot nutritious meal, fun and friendship. The purpose is to enrich the lives of seniors by providing nutrition education, promoting better health through a daily well-balanced meal and better mental health by providing a place for fellowship with other senior citizens.
  • The Home Delivered Meals program is designed to provide meals to those who are unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves. The meals are delivered by volunteers. The goal is to enable seniors to remain in their homes and improve their health through proper diet and good nutrition information.

The Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition, Inc. (KSHC) is a not-for-profit organization whose work is to coordinate with communities throughout the state to provide advocacy, education, and collaboration to end homelessness in Kansas. It also provides remote access to services for those experiencing homeless in areas with limited resources.
