Super Hero night is coming, and Athletic Leadership is asking all Allatoona students and parents to take part!
In 2018, Allatoona alum Turner Cockrell lost his courageous fight against cancer while attending Vanderbilt University. Turner’s Heroes was a nonprofit started in his honor, whose purpose was to raise funds for discovery grants to fight pediatric cancer. Over the next two weeks, you and your students have a chance to take part in this fight and earn community service hours.
3 ways students can earn hours:
⁃ Purchase a Turner’s Heroes t-shirt on MyPaymentsPlus for $15 (1 hour of community service hr)
⁃ Purchase a Turner’s Heroes cape on MyPaymentsPlus for $10 (1 hour of community service)
⁃ Donate a new, unwrapped toy to be delivered to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for pediatric cancer patients. Please see attached flyer for approved donation items and community service details. Please note a receipt MUST be attached to get credit for your hours!! *toys are accepted the entire week and Friday night at the game*
T-shirts will be sold on MPP online through October 26th and can be picked up at the Helm desk in the cafeteria during your students lunch Thursday and Friday, October 27th and 28th. There will also be cash sales for t-shirts and capes at the Superhero Football Game, Friday, October 28th.
All students should wear their capes and t-shirts to the game (October 28th) to participate in the Superhero theme. Several pregame events will honor Turner’s fight and many others with pediatric cancer. Please note that Athletic Leadership students will be collecting cash donations at the game! If you don’t bring cash, you can also donate on MyPaymentsPlus!
Please see any Athletic Leadership student for more details on the event and more information on how you can help fight for an important cause!!
