Left Brain/Right Brain

Our right and left brains have very different functions. The left-brain is logical and organized, while the right brain is emotional. Individuals who have been affected by trauma usually react and operate from the right brain. They are often not able to think logically or understand consequences.

A nurturing relationship and environment, along with skill-building activities, can improve the extent and strength of connections in a student’s brain, leading to a greater ability to overcome trauma.
