Winter 2025 Teaching and Learning Symposium

The Winter 2025 Teaching and Learning Symposium will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2025.  

The Teaching and Learning Symposium is an opportunity to gather as a community to share and celebrate teaching and learning successes at our college.  

Our community is doing inspiring work to enhance the quality of our student learning experiences. Colleagues are engaging in research and evidence-informed critical reflection to incorporate innovative teaching practices, experiential learning, decolonization and Indigenous learning principles in curriculum and student support and well-being. Learning first-hand from faculty, staff and students about these experiences and engaging in conversations about amplifying such practices is what the Symposium is all about.

2025-2026 Professional Development Leave Application Process and Support - Deadline Approaching

The deadline for employees to submit their application to the Centre for Faculty Development and Teaching Innovation (CFDTI) is February 28, 2025. 

All full-time faculty, support staff and administrative employees, as well as regular part-time support (RPT) staff may apply for consideration.

For more information about the PD Leave application process, please visit the Professional Development Leave information page on the CFDTI website and refer to PD Leave guidelines. The website and guidelines include: 

• a narrated PowerPoint slide presentation providing an overview of the application process and eligibility criteria, 
• sample PD Leave applications (previously successful submissions), and  
• Frequently Asked Questions and answers

Enrollment for the Fifth Cohort of the UDL Certificate: "Universal Design for Learning: Inspiring Equity and Inclusion in Higher Education" is Now Open!

Do you want to learn more about how to create accessible and inclusive spaces that are welcoming to all? Are you interested in discovering how to embed accessible practices into your work at Centennial? If this interests you, the Accessibility Team in the Innovation, Inclusion, Reconciliation and Healing (IIRH) portfolio would recommend that you enroll in the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Certificate delivered from the Centennial Talent Academy (CTA). Beginning the third week of January and available to a maximum of thirty (30) participants, the 14-week certificate is designed for all involved in education, including faculty and staff who want to enhance their knowledge and expertise in fostering inclusive learning and collaboration spaces. Skills attained in the program will help participants proactively design equitable learning opportunities for the broadest range of learners. The program also guides facilitators in designing UDL-informed content delivery for online and in-person environments while personalizing learning for their learners.
