As we embrace the month of February, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve all been part of at the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (SMSDC). Our commitment to fostering opportunities for minority-owned businesses has never been stronger, and we are excited about the initiatives we have planned for the coming months.
This past year has been a testament to the resilience and innovation of our community. Together, we’ve navigated challenges and discovered new paths toward growth and success. Your support has been invaluable in building a robust network that not only empowers minority suppliers but also enriches the broader business ecosystem.

Valued MBE’s,
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming Stakeholder’s Meeting, where we will have the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and strategize for the future.
In today’s uncertain business climate, particularly regarding DEI and Supplier Diversity, it is more important than ever that we stand together. While challenges persist, our collective strength and commitment to one another will help us navigate these times and continue to thrive.
Now more than ever, I encourage all of us to support one another—whether by doing business together, sharing opportunities, or exchanging ideas. Our success is intertwined, and by uplifting each other, we reinforce the value and impact of diverse businesses in every industry.
Additionally, we are seeking MBE members who are interested in joining the MBE Subcommittee. Are you interested in working with, representing and advocating for other MBE’s in this council? We are currently seeking committee members across the entire SMSDC region to serve.
The Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee, led by certified business owners from our region, convenes quarterly to address the needs and challenges of MBEs. They organize networking events and promote growth opportunities with Corporations and with other MBE’s, drawing on the diverse expertise of volunteering businesses across different industries. Advocating for MBEs, they play a crucial role in promoting economic development and leveling the playing field.

It is strongly recommended you attend the MBE Pre-Certification Workshop, which is held on Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm CST.
Applicants can now schedule an appointment for a one-on-one call specific to your company.
During the call, the certification application is reviewed in detail, along with the requirements, procedures, timeframe, and benefits of being certified.
We can also discuss:
- Criteria for Certification
- Review of the application process
- Answer most common application questions
Those who have successfully completed their application learned by participating in the Pre-Certification Workshop, the application process is faster.
