The 2021 legislative session began on January 11. It’s a long 105 day session this year, because the Legislature needs to pass a biennial budget.
This year, with the pandemic, everything is different. With extra security surrounding the Capitol, many legislators arrived in person for the first day of the session in order to adopt rules that would allow the session to be essentially virtual.
As we do every session, AMTA-WA's Government Relations Committee, with help from our lobbyist Gail McGaffick, reviews all legislation that is introduced for its impact on the massage profession. This year we have identified four bills that we believe merit our support:
- Health Equity Continuing Education
- Provider Reimbursement for PPE
- Protective Equipment During a Public Health Emergency
- Parks Prescription Pilot Programs
