Celebrating groundbreaking at South Afton
Dirt was flying everywhere on Aug. 15 as Clermont County Commissioners and executives from Design Within Reach and Duke Realty celebrated the groundbreaking of a $17 million distribution facility at South Afton Industrial Park. It is the first property to be developed at South Afton, a 242-acre shovel-ready industrial park in Williamsburg Township owned by the Clermont County CIC with the intent of bringing more jobs to Clermont County.
When Design Within Reach, a furniture and home accessories company, opens its new facility next year, it will employ 85 people with an estimated payroll of $3 million. The facility, at 617,760 square feet, will be the second largest industrial building in the county, and will be built by Duke Realty, which purchased 46.83 acres at South Afton on July 9.

Fighting the bite
This summer is turning out to be a bad year for mosquitoes. There have been a high number of mosquitoes in Clermont County that have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
To prevent mosquito bites:
- Wear an EPA-registered insect repellent.
- Wear long sleeves and long pants when outside.
- Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothes when outside.
- Avoid being outside during peak biting times – early morning and late evening.
- Keep grass in your yard cut short.
- Make sure your door and windows have screens to keep mosquitoes out of your house.
Keep mosquitoes from laying eggs by:
- Getting rid of any containers in your yard that can collect water.
- Use mosquito “dunks” or larvicide for any areas of water in your yard that can’t be drained.
