Splash safely
Florida is one of the leading states in the nation for drownings. To bring attention to the importance of water safety Lt. Governor Jeanette Nuñez held a press conference at Coral Gables’ historic Venetian Pool, the largest freshwater pool in the nation and a top tourist destination. She was joined by other state officials as well as Commissioner Jorge L. Fors, Jr., Community Recreation Director Fred Couceyro, Police Chief Edward J. Hudak, Jr., and Fire Chief Marcos De La Rosa.

“Florida is a vacation destination known for its iconic beaches, rivers, and springs,” said the Lieutenant Governor. “Sadly, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children ages one to four. We encourage all Floridians and visitors to follow water safety guidance. As we enjoy our slice of paradise this summer, it is essential that we all splash safely year-round.”
The latest on the
Coral Gables Country Club

We want to keep you updated on the progress we are making to open this historic facility as we move forward with continued repairs. For the Fitness Facility, we are waiting for the new Technogym equipment to be delivered and installed. We are unable to use the current equipment as the city is not the leaseholder or owner. The pool is scheduled to undergo repairs as required by the Florida Department of Health.

On the good news front, a new café operator has been selected and Le Parc Café should open next month. The new operators Veronique and Ahmed Youbi of Fresh AN are looking forward to welcoming the community. For more information please contact countryclub@coralgables.com.
Founder's Day celebration

Coral Gables was founded by George E. Merrick who designed the City Beautiful in detail, featuring wide,
tree-lined boulevards. He believed a great city needed a great university and donated 160-acres to establish the University of Miami. Recently, the City Commission designated June 3 as Founder’s Day in Coral Gables, to salute the man whose vision, determination, and dedication gave life to the city.

This Friday, June 3, the Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables will celebrate Founder’s Day with an event commemorating the 136th anniversary of Merrick’s birth.
An evening of Ukrainian and Polish music

Enjoy a free concert from the Frost Chopin Festival on Wednesday, June 22 at 7 p.m. at the University of Miami's Gusman Concert Hall, 1314 Miller Drive. The performance will feature Ukrainian-Polish soprano Olga Pasichnyk, pianists Kevin Kenner and Ewa Pobłocka, and Poland’s operatic master Stanisław Moniuszko. Limit of four tickets per person.

This offer is made possible thanks to a 20-year development agreement between the City of Coral Gables and the University of Miami and the generous support of Olga and David Melin.
A suspenseful afternoon
at the cinema
