Gospel Reading: (Matthew 16:13-20)
Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to him, “Bless are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church… I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Vincentian Reflection:
Jesus revealed himself to Peter through his experience where, in spite of his doubt, fear, and sinking, he was saved from the raging seas. Peter had a gripping and personal experience of the saving power of Jesus, and so answers from a faith stance that Jesus is indeed the Christ, the Son of the living God. Peter had paid attention to his experience, and so the “heavenly Father”could reveal to him the knowledge that Jesus was the long awaited Messiah. When we open our eyes to see and ears to hear and our hearts to experience Jesus’ presence and power in our daily lives, God’s revelation comes to us. We only need to have faith.

Thrift Store Volunteer Challenge!
|
|
Members of the Santa Rosa Conference are committed to helping the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. For the past six weeks, six to eight Vincentians from the Conference have been volunteering in the store once a week, tagging and organizing items to be sold. President-elect, Bill Adams, wants to encourage other Conferences to also participate.
"I want to challenge our sister Conferences to come and volunteer at the Thrift Store."
|
|
Bill says Conference presidents should come to the store, see what needs to be done, and then invite their members to join them in volunteering. He is successful at getting volunteers because he extends a personal invitation. "He calls people up and says can you come with me," said Angela Gimbert, CenTex North District President.
Do you accept the challenge?
The St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store is in need of volunteers to assist with many tasks including: sorters, organizers, and pricers. To keep everyone safe and healthy, volunteers are required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
To volunteer, you must first sign up and then sign up for a shift. You can find more details in the link below.

National Gazette Questions and Answers
Q: I have a couple of new active Conference members whose husbands want to help when needed. Are they required to attend Ozanam Orientation within one year of joining?
A: All Active Members must attend an Ozanam Orientation within a year of joining the Conference. Associate members, which would be the membership category of the spouses you are referencing, are not required to attend. Although not required of Associates, the Ozanam Orientation may influence them to become Active members. The Ozanam Orientation and Serving in Hope are the primary training programs for Vincentians. Both emphasize the importance of spirituality. However, anyone serving regardless of membership is to take appropriate Vulnerable Youth/Adult training as required by your Diocese.
Preguntas y Respuestas de la
Oficina Nacional
