"By drawing closer to the poor, we draw closer to God. And we students must draw closer to God a little more every day, or we'll find ourselves falling away from him."

The Solemnity of the
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
|
|
Gospel Reading: (Luke 1: 39-56)
Then Mary said: “My being proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit finds joy in God my savior, for he has looked upon his servant in her lowliness; all ages to come shall call me blessed. God who is mighty has done great things for me, holy is his name…He has deposed the mighty from their thrones and raised the lowly to high places. The hungry he has given every good thing, while the rich he has sent empty away…
Vincentian Meditation:
On the feast of the Assumption, Frederic, three weeks away from death’s door, insisted
on walking to church. There he attended Mass and received Holy Communion. “It may
be my last walk in this world, and I desire that it shall be to pay a visit to my God and His
Blessed Mother.”-Bl.Frederic Ozanam-

National Gazette Questions and Answers
Q: I was told by my Conference that we do not help people with rent if they are on Section 8. Is this true and if so, why not?
A: It has always been a part of the Rule that no form of charity is foreign to the Society. So, limiting the types of service we provide does not correspond with the Rule. There is no authorization that prevents us from providing rental assistance to people living in Section 8 housing.
Preguntas y Respuestas de la
Oficina Nacional
