During yesterday’s commission meeting, the city paid tribute to departing City Attorney Miriam Soler Ramos and unanimously voted to appoint Deputy City Attorney Cristina Suarez as the new City Attorney.
Suarez has been with the city for nearly seven years and has served as Deputy City Attorney and City Prosecutor since November 2017.
“We are honored and proud to have someone of Cristina's caliber and commitment lead our legal team,” said Mayor Vince Lago. "Her appointment ensures a seamless transition, and I am sure the office will continue to provide the highest level of representation for the city."
Ramos, an eight-year Coral Gables veteran was appointed City Attorney in 2017.
Under her leadership, the office became a fully certified office in City, County, and Local Government Law by the Florida Bar, a prestigious certification that designates special knowledge, skills, and proficiencies in local government law.
