Maintenance Updates

Maintenance team cleaned Rec Center electrical closet.

Volleyball Court at the Rec Center light pole was installed with a new LED.

Repaired fixtures for men's restroom urinal at the Rec Center.

Entry water features: The crew added chlorine shock to each feature and cleared all the debris baskets.

Temporarily put up HOA fences - pending Board Approval for repairs

Villages III: Trash and debris were collected from the lake and shoreline. The lights and timers are functional and accurate. The fountain was tripped upon arrival, likely due to a power outage from last week's storms. We reset the fountain and will continue to monitor its functionality. Treatment was provided for submerged algae along the bulkhead. The outfall was cleared of blockages.

Switchback: The crew collected trash from the lake and shoreline. The lights and timers are all functional and accurate. Upon arrival, fountain #4 was tripped, likely due to the storms as well. We reset it and will check on it during our visit next week to make sure it continues running properly. All three other fountains were functional. Treatment was provided for submerged algae along the bulkhead. The outfall was clear of debris.

Willow Ranch: Trash and debris were collected. The light set on the West fountain was not functional due to a bad timer battery. The East fountain was also down due to a bad timer battery. We replaced both, so the lights, timers, and both fountains are all functioning properly. Treatment was provided for minor planktonic algae. The outfall was cleared of blockages.

Nautical Point (Lake 4): Upon arrival, the fountain was down due to a loose connection in the panel. We corrected the issue, so the fountain is now running and flowing properly. The lights and timers are functional and accurate. The crew collected trash and debris from the lake and shoreline.

Mariner's Bay: Trash was collected from the lake and shoreline. Upon arrival, both fountains were down due to bad timer batteries. We replaced both batteries as well as one for the North light set. Harmony Springs: Fountain #2 is still without incoming power due to a dismantled CenterPoint meter.

All fountains not mentioned from the Stone Gate side of the neighborhood are running properly.

Heron Egret Birds: Tips for Preventative Maintenance

Hundreds of Egrets begin migrating around this time of year in search of a favorable nesting area to form their rookery. History shows that these birds appear to choose the same location each year. When establishing a nest, Egrets are drawn to large, well-established trees, with dense networks of limbs conducive for protection when nesting.

First and foremost, to respect and be aware of: Egrets are federally protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. What does this mean? By law, none of these birds can be killed, or their nests disturbed once they have eggs or young. It is unlawful to do anything to these birds once an egg is in the nest.

Residents can purchase items to help discourage nesting, such as air horns, bright streamers to hang in trees, water nozzles and "scare eye balloons," which are common tools used to scare away birds.
