OUR LADY OF FATIMA
St. Dymphna, Pray for Us
Do you know the story of St. Dymphna?

Dymphna lived in Ireland in the seventh-century, and was just 15 years old when she was killed because she rejected the sexual advances of her mentally deranged father. He was determined to marry her to replace his beautiful, deceased wife. Upon learning of her father’s unholy desires, Dymphna fled to Belgium where she was tracked-down, beheaded and buried. Because of many reports of miraculous healings of mental illness attributed to St. Dymphna, and because of popular devotion to her, she was canonized in 1247. Dymphna is honored as a virgin-martyr and her Feast Day is May 15th.

By Cole DeSantis, Rhode Island Catholic Correspondent
PROVIDENCE — On Sunday, May 1, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin administered the sacraments of initiation to a series of students in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program at Providence College.
On the sunny spring morning on the Third Sunday after Easter, students gathered with their family, friends, sponsors and faculty in front of St. Dominic’s chapel in the Upper Campus of Providence College. Bishop Tobin was the principal celebrant for the 11:00 a.m. Mass. After the entrance procession, Bishop Tobin was greeted by Father Justin Bolger, O.P., chaplain of Providence College.

STAND FOR LIFE
Please email the Rhode Island Governor today on taxpayer funded abortion
According to the Providence Journal (5/5/22, page 7A), Rhode Island's Office of Management and Budget produced an analysis on March 24, the key finding of which is that the state of Rhode Island could potentially save $5.4 million a year in taxpayer dollars if we allow state taxpayer dollars to pay for the killing of preborn babies in abortion rather than delivering these same babies.

RI CATHOLIC GUEST EDITORIAL
Catholics must elect leaders who show unconditional respect for human life
What is the choice? Is it to kill or not to kill an innocent, defenseless human being? A majority of elected RI representatives and senators have already passed a radical New York pro-abortion law which forces the state to deny legal protection to unborn children throughout all nine months. The 2019 law codified and expanded abortion rights in Rhode Island, making it easier for women to obtain late-term abortions for virtually any reason. To add insult to injury, these same anti-life politicians now intend to force taxpayers to fund the killing of the unborn, treating them as disposable objects.

Bishops to Congress: Protect women and children, 'stop pushing abortion' - Catholic News Service
By: Julie Asher
WASHINGTON (CNS) — After the U.S. Senate failed May 11 to advance a “radical” abortion bill, the chairmen of two U.S. bishops’ committees urged Congress “to stop pushing abortion as the solution to needs of women and young girls” and “embrace” public policy initiatives that protect “both mother and child.”

The Women’s Health Protection Act, or S. 4132, did not get the 60 votes needed to end debate on the bill and advance it to a vote on the substance of the measure. The vote to end debate was 51-49.

The U.S. Capitol is seen in Washington in this undated photo. The Women's Health Protection Act failed to reach the votes needed in the Senate May 11, 2022, to cut off debate on the bill and proceed to a vote on the measure itself. All Republicans and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., opposed the bill.
