Monthly News & Updates

October 2023 | Issue 3

From the Co-Presidents

Dear CPWC members,

What a busy month September was! Many of the Interest Groups had their first event with great attendance and the Opening Luncheon was a huge success. Megan La Russa, a fashion stylist, was the hit of the luncheon. She talked about different body types, how our body type never changes, regardless of weight gain or loss, and introduced some fall fashions with our very own members, Grace Becerra, Chris Cashman, Jean Ann McCarthy, and Trish Wenger.

Angela Boardman, Charity Chair, introduced Liz Platner, Chapter Leader from PORCH Marietta to give us an overview of the work they do. The CPWC Board selected PORCH for this year’s charity.

We would like to give Lynn Thompson a special thanks for her vision, planning, and implementation of the Pond Tour held on September 17. It was a beautiful afternoon and the donations to support McFarlane Park's 30th Anniversary were generous.

October is another busy month with a variety of activities to choose from. We would especially like you to join us for the Daytime Program on October 20. Please note that this event and many others require you to register online prior to the event. You can check the dates and locations of other events on the website, or on Facebook.

Your membership and support are crucial to our organization and very much appreciated. If you would like to have your name and contact information in the CPWC Directory, you need to be a current member by October 10. If you haven’t yet joined, the membership form is available at www.chattahoocheeplantationwomensclub.org/membership.

Enjoy the wonderful fall weather and Go Braves!

Your CPWC Co-Presidents,

Susan Fulkerson and Martha Altieri

On September 17, the CPWC along with the CPCA, and Friends of McFarlane Park, hosted a tour of 5 ponds for the 30th Anniversary year of the Park. Over $3,000.00 was collected for McFarlane Nature Park on that day.

Landscape architects Hardy Kaplan of Chattahoochee Home & Garden and Todd Hornsby were available for consultations on pond constructions, landscape, and a variety of other details pertaining to ponds/gardens. Denise Rogers from Wide Open Waters was also represented for pond maintenance. Other ponds featured artists, Libby Nabors (sculptor), Carol Drobos, and Maryam Askaran (artists). Guitarist, Stephen entertained our visitors at the Whitehead pond.

We would like to thank the many volunteers who helped make this such a successful 1st-time tour. Special thanks to Heather Rees, Julie Lischer, and Tina Engberg who did communications for the tour.

We would like to recognize, London & Jerry Andes, Lucinda & Pat Whitehead, Judy Winchell, Mike & Jeanette Zukors, and Lynn & Jerry Thompson who all hosted the Pond Tour in their gardens.
