CPWC Opening Luncheon

We invite you to our Opening Luncheon featuring a presentation from stylist Megan La Russa. Invite a neighbor and join us for food, fun, and fashion on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Atlanta Country Club at 10:30 a.m. $40 per person. RSVP by September 8.

As we approach the end of summer, we look forward to the beginning of our CPWC year and the opportunities to gather together to socialize in our many interest groups and monthly programs.

We are so appreciative, thankful, and most of all grateful to be a part of this special group of women. We are grateful for the friendships we have made and have chosen Gratitude as this year’s theme.

Our monthly newsletters will provide you with information about upcoming events from our interest groups including Book Club, Bridge, Gardening, Yoga, Family Activities, Hiking, Yoga, and more. We meet monthly for Daytime and/or Evening Groups and typically host an interesting speaker or presentation as well as delicious food (covered by your dues).

Our Opening Luncheon is Friday, September 15 at the Atlanta Country Club from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. We will enjoy a delicious luncheon and presentation from stylist Megan La Russa. The RSVP link is at the top of this page.

EVENING GROUP

The Evening Group (formerly known as Savvy Women) will kick off the season with a

lively and entertaining evening of Cocktails and Mocktails!

Tyler, a bartender at Atlanta Country Club, will demonstrate how to prepare three or four drinks that are sure to whet the appetites of your friends and family! Not only is Tyler an accomplished mixologist, he is also delightful and charming, so don’t miss this one!

Newcomers Welcome Party

August 20

Our New Neighbor Hospitality Committee is planning to celebrate our newest residents at the annual Newcomers Welcome Party on Sunday, August 20, 5-7 pm at the home of Barry and Jean Ann McCarthy, 410 Cherry Hill Dr. This is a casual, couples event. Cocktails and appetizers will be served.

On behalf of the CPWC, we will provide all identified new neighbors (typically 30-40) with a welcome bag which will include an invitation to the August event and also information on the Chattahoochee Plantation Community Association (CPCA). Each bag will include a small gift. We always like to show support for local businesses, so please let us know of any coupons or local goodies we can incorporate to expand the sense of community.

Now, we just need your help in identifying our newest neighbors (those who have moved to the area within the last 12 months). Please send Jean Ann any names and addresses of those who have recently chosen our neighborhood to call home. On behalf of the CPWC Welcome Wagon, thank you for your help!

Gardening Interest Group

2023 CPWC POND TOUR

30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF MCFARLANE NATURE PARK AND CPWC GARDEN CLUB

DATE: Sunday, September 17, 2023

TIME: 2-6 PM rain or shine

COST: Proceeds/donations to benefit McFarlane Nature Park

Donations will be accepted on the day of the tour. Donations may also be made to McFarlane Nature Park’s website (specify as "Garden Tour").

Ponds on the tour:

1. Lucinda & Pat Whitehead. 775 Edgewater Trail. Garden designed and installed by James Gibbs; Flowers by Flower Works. (Handicapped accessible).

2. Michael Zukor. 840 Edgewater Drive (not handicapped accessible) A beautiful collection of Koi.

3. Judy Winchell. 4030 Paper Mill Rd. (Parking limited) Visit this natural sanctuary of beauty.

4. London & Jerry Andes. 4352 Classic Links Court. (Parking is available in lower lot at ACC or on Chattahoochee Plantation Dr.) (Handicapped accessible) A childhood collection of Koi.

5. Lynn & Jerry Thompson. 541 Rivercliff Trace (Handicapped accessible). Parking on street is limited. Clubhouse parking is available. A variety of goldfish and pond plants on display. Design by Chattahoochee Home & Garden, Hardy Kaplan.

Information on Fish, Plants, and Pond habitats will be available on-site the day of the tour.

No restroom facilities are available at the sites.

Come enjoy a relaxing afternoon of art, music, and Ponding!

***Look for the balloon on the mailbox. Flyer guide will be available at each pond on the day of the tour.

Run/Walk 5K

Walking/5K news for August:

Grab a friend and come out for a walk. Less stress and more connection. This is the beauty of a "walk and talk"!

Evening Book Club

Daytime Book Club

CPWC Daytime Book Club will be meeting on August 14th at 10:00 AM at Susie Stewart's house at 400 Cherry Hill Drive SE. We will be discussing Ordinary Grace , by William Kent Krueger.

Our fall season starts on September 11th at 10:00 AM. We will be discussing Surviving Savannah, by Patti Callahan Henry.
